Message from the Director: Spring always brings new life to the community. More and more folks are out walking, visiting our skate park and playgrounds. It’s a natural transition from the hibernation of winter to be refreshed with some new activities. Record numbers have played pickleball this winter and we hope that trend continues. If you have never heard of pickleball, I encourage you to take a pickleball clinic and find out what this fastest growing sport is all about (see p. 14). Spring also brings the tennis players out. The courts at Lambly Park are well used by many residents and guests. If you have always wanted to learn how to play tennis, we have introductory programs for children (p. 7) and adults (p.11). It’s a great way to get outdoors and into the swing of things. No matter your passion, we hope you will find something to get you moving, learning or socializing this spring. Cheryl Wiebe Director of Community Services
“Peachland is a great place to be on Canada Day. I’ve been doing this event for 20+ years. I do the IRA series as well but would have done this one regardless.”

Your child will learn to swim and stay safe in a fun environment that promotes a personal best and celebrates individual success. Our small class sizes in the beautiful Okanagan Lake make it an unique swim experience. Classes may be re-organized to ensure that children are participating at the most appropriate skill level. In the beginner levels, children will focus on getting comfortable in the water, water safety and will learn progressions that will lead to stroke development in the higher levels. As the children progress, they will learn both competitive and survival strokes while building their distance and speed. Children will also learn about making safe decisions in, on and around the water.
Swim Lessons
In each level, participants are evaluated based on performance criteria and progress to the next level once all criteria have been successfully completed.

Rating 3.0-4.0 • Consistent on serve and service return for medium and faster paced balls • Improved skills with basic shots and developing shot placement skills including direction and depth control • Beginning to anticipate opponent’s shot and attempt lob and dinks with little success • Exhibits some aggressive net play Rating 4.0-5.0 • Consistent and dependably strokes including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand shots • Reliable serves, lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys and can use a spin shot with some success • Anticipates a shot and regularly can hit a winning shot • Forces an opponent into making errors • Aggressive net play and teamwork in doubles
