We have many offerings for you from a physical fitness, wellness or special interest perspective. Maybe you want to shake it up with your friends at our Zumba class... or maybe you want to spin your way to health on a spin bike... or perhaps 2014 is your year to try a new skill like fly tying or learn to spice up your dinners with our cooking programs. The Mayor’s Task Force on Climate Change Background • Established in late 2011 as an initiative following the Community Energy and Emission Plan development process. • Chaired by the Mayor the committee has two staff representatives, one Councillor and 8 members from the community. • The MTFCC reviews and assesses ‘Climate Action’ projects and initiatives and provides recommendations to the Committee of the Whole (COTW) and Council. Key Climate Action Projects and Initiatives • Community Energy and Emissions Plan • Corporate Energy Management Program • Solar Community • Renewable Energy Opportunities Study • Okanagan Energy Diet Okanagan Energy Diet – Current Initiative The District of Peachland, Fortis BC, BC Hydro and LiveSmart BC are supporting the Okanagan Energy Diet. The initiative is aimed at lowering long term household expenditures through household retrofits that reduce energy and reduce Greenhouse Gases. More importantly, the process ensures that all home energy rebates for retrofits are able to be accessed by homeowners. Initial home energy assessments are being reduced from $300.00+ to just $35.00 (+ applicable taxes) as these costs are being subsidized by the program partners. You can find out more information and register at www.fortisbc.com (this is for BC Hydro electrical customers as well). The registration for the program is December 13, 2013 so please hurry!
