We have learned during this pandemic that we need to be agile; we have learned how to pivot; and we have adapted to a new normal. As we transition into 2021, the pandemic remains real and we need to continue to look for new ways to entertain, celebrate and participate! Recreation programs have been thriving. We want to thank Peachland for participating and helping support local recreation offerings. This winter, we have returning fan favourites as well as some new specialty offerings for you. Programs such as STRONG Nation (p. 9), Yoga for Your Back (p. 10), Introduction to Meditation (p. 10) and more have been added to the schedule to help keep you physically and mentally fit. We have also introduced family-friendly fitness—REFIT (p. 9)—to keep you and your kids active. While some favourite events like Polar Bear Run and Swim have been cancelled, staff continue to be creative to provide some safe celebrations and events. Regardless of our intentions, the District’s offerings will be in adherence with any COVID-19 restrictions required by the local or provincial Health Officer.

Cheryl Wiebe, Director of Community Services

Turner Park Acquisition The District of Peachland has made a strategic park acquisition to acquire 6114 Turner Avenue, historically referred to as Turner Park. The District of Peachland will take ownership of the lands on March 30, 2021. The upper area of the property, which is accessed off Turner Avenue, is envisioned as a future parkland site and is approximately 6.2 acres in area. To help recoup purchase costs, the District plans to sell the lower portion of the property as a potential development site. A Park Plan, which will include public consultation, will determine future park uses and maintenance. Until planning is complete and funding secured, the park will remain undeveloped but will be available for casual use as of March 31, 2021.
