a great GOT DOTS quilt-‐along
This is a great project that will use up even the smallest of scraps. Come join us, it’s bound to be a fun project … we just hope you don’t go “dotty.”
Part three of the great GOT DOTS quilt along INCLUDES templates for the LOLLIPOPS block. For templates for the ¾” dots used in this block, please see Part 1. Use your favorite method of appliqué for the “bowls.” I use needle-‐turn appliqué so I cut a window template for the bowl and placed this on my desired fabric. Then mark inside the bowl shape with your favorite pen or pencil. Appliqué in place following the block template. The stems were embroidered with three threads and a chain stitch. Templates for the LOLLIPOPS block layout are also included. I suggest that you glue this template to a piece of heavy cardstock or a piece of cereal box cardboard. Cut away the bowl shape (and use this for marking your bowl appliqués) and the inside of each dot, then also cut along the outer edge of the template. Use this sturdy template to either mark your background with a pencil or wash-‐out pen Background – I pre-‐cut all my backgrounds 7” / 18cm square. This allows for a little bit of shrinkage during the appliqué and room to trim each block to 6-‐1/2” (unfinished).
