OPPOSITE TOP RIGHT This hay market was established on the northwest corner of Michigan and Trumbull Avenues, the future home of Bennett Park, Navin Field, and Tiger Stadium, in 1875. The city’s weighmaster collected a fee for weighing hay, straw, coal, and livestock before they were sold. In 1881 the fees were ten cents per head for cattle and five cents for sheep.
