PROJECT OF 350 HOUSING IN ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN


ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN _CLIMA: CONTINENTAL OF EXTREMS, WITH TEMPERATURES FROM -30ยบ IN WINTER AND AROUND 27ยบ IN SUMMER, FEW HOURS OF NATURAL LIGHT DAILY, WINDS INTENSIVE, OF AROUND 60KM / H _PARCELA: SURFACE OF 31000M2, SITUATED TO THE SOUTH OF THE CITY IN AN EMERGING AREA, WHERE THE FACILITIES ARE PROJECTED FOR THE EXPO2017 _SE IS THE EXECUTION OF A PROJECT OF 350 HOUSING _SE IS PROPOSED A VERSATILE SPACE THAT OF RESPONSE TO HARD CLIMATOLOGY AND TO THE ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS _OUR PRIORITY WILL BE OBTAINED SPACES USEFUL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, VERSATILES BEFORE THE DIFFERENT CLIMATIC SITUATIONS BUT ALSO TO THE USES OF THOSE WHO HAVE THE PLACE. THIS VERSATILITY HAS ITS RESPONSE IN THE CREATION OF A GENERATING SPACE SHEET, OPEN AND CLOSED, FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE USE; SPACES BELONGING TO DIFFERENT WORLDS BUT THAT CONFLUEN ARE RELATED. REDUCING THE SCALE, OTHER ELEMENTS APPEAR THROUGHOUT THE ARTIFICIAL TOPOGRAPHY THAT SHARING MATERIALITY WITH THE PREVIOUS, ALLOW THE LIGHT TO PASS THE COVERED AREA DURING THE DAY AND MAINTAIN ITS FUNCTION DURING THE EVENING WITH THE USE OF LUMINAIRES THAT SERVE BOTH THE HIGHER SPACE LIKE THE LOWER. FROM STAIRS THAT CLAIM A COMMUNITY, A NEW ELEVATED STREET, A NEW RELATIONSHIP, A SPACE OF TRANSIT AND EXCHANGE FOR THE PROJECTED HOMES. QUIEBROS OF A CONTINUOUS LINE THAT PRETENDS TO EMBRACE AND STIMULATE THE CONTACT OF A TOWN AND ITS PEOPLE. A LINE THAT EXTENDS TOWARDS THE PROJECTED GREEN SPACE, THOUGHT FROM THE SAME PHILOSOPHY OF BANKRUPTCY AND MATERIALITY. A SET WITH UNITY. NATURAL ACCESSIBILITY, WHICH TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE EXISTING SLOPES AND DIFFERENCES IN HEIGHT, USING A MATERIAL, THE BRICK, THAT SEEKS TO VALUE THE CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE ENVIRONMENT, AS A SENSITIVE RESPONSE TO CONTAINMENT, BOTH ECONOMICALLY AND VISUALLY. A VERSATILE MATERIAL, WHICH PROVIDES A DUALITY OF FACADES ABLE TO FACE THE NEEDS OF ITS USERS, AND A RELENTLESS CLIMATE AT TIMES. A LIVING WEST AND OPEN TO THE HOMES IT HOUSES, CONJUGATED WITH AN AERATED SOUTH AND SIFTED BY A LATTICE THAT MANAGES TO BLUR A WALL. IT IS THE STORY OF A STAIRCASE. THE EXTERIOR AS A MEETING AREA, WHILE THE HOUSES TURN INWARD. A COLLECTIVE LADDER, WHICH PROVIDES PRECISE FITTING TO DIFFERENT USERS. THE PUBLIC SPACE OF THE EXTERIOR STAIRCASE, FACING THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE INTERIOR. IT IS A MATTER OF UNDERSTANDING HOW PEOPLE LIVE AND COLONIZE A PLACE. WITHOUT SWEETENERS OR UTOPIAS. A PROJECT WITH YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND, WITH YOUR FEET IN THE ORDINARY.

THE PURE CONCEPT OF THE MÖBIUS BAND REFERS TO THE SYMBOLIC LAND OF THE CYCLICAL, ETERNITY AND INFINITY. WE FOUND BEFORE THIS SO RETORIC GEOMETRY IN THE HISTORY CARRIED TO THE VOLUME. WITHOUT BEGINNING OR END. WITHOUT REVERSE OR ANVERSE. ONLY A BAND WHOSE SURFACE IS TRAVELED UNTIL THE INFINITE. A SKELETON BASED ON THIS GEOMETRY GENERATES THE FORM AND SERVES STRUCTURE TO HOST THE INHABITED SPACE. AMONG THESE WOOD RIBS, APPEAR, IN THE BROADER AREA OF THE PAVILION, A WHITE TEXTILE PIECES THAT ADAPT TO THE SHAPE OF THE SET AND SERVE AS A COBIJO; CREATING SHADOW AND PROVIDING A COZY ATMOSPHERE IN THE AREA OF STAY. THEREFORE, A SEARCH IS PROPOSED AT THE ORIGIN, AS AN ANALYSIS OF THE BASIC ELEMENT OF PROTECTION, ITS COVER. AND CITING AS NOT THE VERSES OF A MYTHICAL SONG: (...) AN ELEMENT THAT WILL CHANGE THE PERCEPTION SURROUNDING THE CLOISTERED JOURNEY. SOME LINES THAT UNFOLD, THAT FORM DIFFERENT PLANES, AND THAT REMIND A LOT OF BILLOM’S TOPOGRAPHY. AS IF IT WERE A SCULPTURE BY RICHARD SERRA HIMSELF, CREATING DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES, FEELINGS OR SENSATIONS WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH THE SPACE THAT IS GENERATED.

A COVER, WHICH CREATES ITS OWN STRUCTURE, WHICH GENERATES ITS SUPPORT AS A RESULT OF THESE FACETS AND WHICH IS THEREFORE DEPLOYED FROM ITS COVERAGE. CURRENTLY THERE ARE ABOUT NINE ACCESS DOORS TO THE COMPLEX, GIVING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STREETS AND CREATING THE FEELING OF NOT KNOWING, NOT KNOWING HOW TO ENTER THE COMPLEX.

THE POSSIBILITY OF CREATING A MARKED, RECOGNIZABLE AND CLEAR ACCESS WILL BE STUDIED. TRYING TO MAKE THE BUILDING A PART OF THE CITY, TO OPEN IT, TO DIALOGUE AND INTEGRATE. AS ALREADY EXPLAINED BEFORE, THE CHURCH BUILDING IS ELIMINATED, SINCE IT IS IN A STATE OF VERY HIGH TRANSFORMATION, WITH A LOW ARCHITECTURAL VALUE. BECAUSE THE TRUE VALUE OF THE BUILDING IS IN THE WHOLE AND ESPECIALLY IN THE CLOISTER. THIS WILL BE EXPLAINED IN DEPTH IN THE ANALYSIS PLAN OF THE COMPLEX. YOU SEE IN THE SPACE WHERE THE CHURCH IS LOCATED AN OPPORTUNITY. THE OPPORTUNITY TO OPEN THE BUILDING TO THE CITY, TO ALLOW THE MOST VALUABLE SPACE TO BECOME IMPORTANT. DIALOGUE, TALKING AND CREATING A HARMONY WITH THE EXISTING BUILDING. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A CONVERSATION BETWEEN THE FULL AND THE EMPTY. IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT CHARACTERIZES THIS BUILDING, APART FROM THE CLOISTER, IT IS THE PERFECT MODULATION OF ITS WINDOWS, OF ITS GAPS AND THEREFORE OF THE FULLNESS AND EMPTINESS.

THAT IS WHY THIS NEW INTERVENTION WILL DIALOGUE WITH THE EXISTING BUILDING WITH THE FULL AND THE EMPTY, FOLLOWING OR IMITATING THAT HARMONIC HARMONY THAT THEY GENERATE AND THAT CHARACTERIZE THE WHOLE. IT WILL ALSO CONVERSE WITH THE CITY, IT WILL OPEN, MAKING ITS CLOISTER PERMEABLE AND GENERATING ACCESS TO IT.
