Spacial Sequence

The way people move within a house is the foundation of a project. Circulation defines the spaces you are creating. Without circulation we would have asthetically beatiful buildings without any function. Architecture is created when Form, circulation, and concept is articulated in harmony.

Procedure

1. Look at many different buildings to understand spacial ordering. 2. Select one building, no more than a couple years old with at least five spacial ordering characteristics. 3. Build study model of the base, adjacent spaces, spaces within spaces, and circulation. 4.Create a model using MDF for the base, acrylic for the spaces within spaces, maple wood for the adjacent space, and bass wood for the circulation.

Objective

Understand the different kinds of spacial ordering and organizations and how the circulation and spaces relate to each other within a building by modeling it. Show good craftsmanship and understanding of different materials.
