Chapter two- Forty- niners Before the gold rush began there where 14,000 non-Native Americans that lived in California. But all of that soon began to change. About 6,000 people came and arrived in 1848 and in 1849. Around 90,000 people arrived to find the gold. The people that arrived at this time were called the Forty-niners. They came from all over the world. Some them were Americans, but many came from places like China, Mexico, Europe, and Australia. THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUDH

The original miners rather pan for gold than do it by hand. A little later it got a little more complex methods where used to allow the multiple the work together and look for larger amounts of the gravel for the gold.

right to the bottom of the pan and the useless gravel was at the top. The miners took all of the useless stuff out of the pan But some of the other miners preferred to use machines to help them work faster. So all of the miners were different. Miners had to work all day to find the gold. Did you know that the gold rush was really hard work? If you didn't know well it was the gold maid all of the miners very but very tired because there was a few of pieces of gold in the pan so the pan was heavy.

chapter 5- supplies All of the miners used supplies to mine with. The supplies they used are shovels, pick for mining, and of course they used a mining pan. The miners also needed food to live like coffee, bacon, sugar, beans, flour, bedding tent to sleep in, a lamp to see, and a cattle. The stores and the business owners sold supplies to the miners so they became wealthier than the miners. So they have able to sell the items at a very high price so the miners agreed to pay

Routes to California All the gold seekers that were coming to California were called the forty-niners. Half of them took two different sea routes to go to San Francisco and the other half traveled to California overland on the Santa Fe, Oregon, to the California trails. They made it the long and difficult journey in covered wagons across the whole grasslands, deserts, and the mountains from the American West.
Travel Dangers Some of the routes the forty-niners took were really dangerous. Many of the ships that carried the fortyniners had sunken in the rough waters they when't through. The gold seekers that traveled on the wagons on the trails were worried that they would get attacked by the Native Americans. But the most rare attacks were Indians attacks. But there was a bigger killers was a bad THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUDH

disease called cholera ( KAHL-er-uh). A human being can be killed by this illness in about 24 hours from getting it. Cholera including other diseases had killed thousands of the forty-niners before they ever reached California.
Conclusion I hoped you enjoyed my history book about the gold rush! I worked so hard on my book. It took me 1 whole month to put this book together. I really really hope you enjoyed the California Gold Rush.
