Farrah Lee-Elabd, age 13, won the Bronze Medal in the Youth 14 Women’s Epee category at the 2011 North American Cup fencing competition which took place at the Austin Convention Center this Veterans Day weekend. The North American Cup is one of the largest and most prestigious fencing competitions in North America with more than 2,000 Olympic and Junior World Championship Team hopefuls competing over the span of four days. On Sunday, November 13th, Farrah competed against 65 of the best fencers in the USA and Canada. She took the bronze medal and earned a national rating (C2011). Farrah is an 8th grader and honor student at the Alamo Heights Junior School and has been in the Spanish Immersion Program for the past seven years. She enjoys fencing and has been competing nationally and internationally for more than four years. Earlier this year, Farrah won the Silver medal at the Pan American Youth Championships in Ixtapa, Mexico fencing for Team USA. Farrah belongs to the Olympian Fencing Club (http://www. OlympianFencingClub.com) in San Antonio, Texas where she trains with some of the best fencers in the country. Farrah is coached by Velizar Iliev, a US Olympian and three-time World Champion.
