Secure Your Home for the Holidays!

Tis the Season to get robbed…. So here are a few tips on how to help prevent you from becoming a victim if you are planning an out of town trip. *Keep back gates padlocked; install motion-sensitive lights in backyard and on your front porch as well. Be sure to keep your shrubbery well trimmed so that no one can hide with in them. • Keep a light on and use timers to keep your house lit in a routine as if you are at home. • Keep a car parked in your driveway so it appears as if you are home. If you have trusted neighbor ask them to move the car as to throw off anyone who might be casing your home. • Contact the Sheriff’s dept Vacation Watch (form is located in this newsletter and can be downloaded @www.winchestercountry.org ) • Again if you have a trusted neighbor let them know your plans so that if they see unusual activity it can be reported immediately. • Do not have mail delivered or your newspaper (that is a Robber red flag). Use that neighbor you trust. • Family Heirlooms can not be replaced! Consider putting them in a Safety deposit box. (This is such a nominal fee for such important items). Even if you take every precaution, your house could be burglarized. So please take note and prepare your home so that you can enjoy where ever you might be traveling to. AND….. Do not forget to put that trusted neighbor on your Christmas list. That is a lot of responsibility being a trusted neighbor.

Winchester Country Maintenance Board would like to wish all of our Residents a Very Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to you and your families! Winchester Country Newsletter - December 2011

Winchester Country Houston Repertoire Ballet Celebrates 10 Years En Pointe with The Nutcracker Sell-Out Performances Set For December 10 & 11

Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB), will be featuring guest artists from two of the world’s premiere ballet companies: Jared Matthews, soloist with New York’s American Ballet Theatre and HRB alum, and Karina Gonzalez, soloist with the Houston Ballet. The premier pre-professional ballet company in Northwest Houston proudly presents the 10th annual The Nutcracker performance series. The program attracts and develops some of the finest young dancers in the greater Houston area, with many of the dancers advancing to professional ballet companies throughout the country. HRB graduates can be seen with New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and other prestigious companies. The performances will be Saturday, December 10 at 2 pm and 7 pm and Sunday, December 11 at 1 pm and 5 pm at the Tomball High School Auditorium located at 30330 Quinn Road in Tomball. For ticket information, call 281-940-HRB1 (4721) or visit www.hrbdance.org. The dancers of HRB perform excerpts from each production and make costumed appearances at various nursing homes, libraries, group events and at Arts & Education performances. Also, HRB brings two matinee performances to Tomball ISD third grade students, fulfilling the arts component of their curriculum. To schedule an outreach event for your organization, call 281-940HRB1 (4721). The Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), founded by Victoria Vittum and Gilbert Rome, both nationally acclaimed teachers

and choreographers who served as its co-artistic directors. Today, Ms. Vittum oversees training and programming with an equal eye to serving the needs of the community. Although Mr. Rome is now retired, he maintains his interest and affiliation with HRB, performing as Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker and as a guest teacher. Since 1994, HRB has contributed to the cultural fabric of Harris and Montgomery Counties by providing excellent dance training to the area’s young ballet stars and dance educators of tomorrow, while also presenting two highquality productions annually at affordable prices. The Nutcracker and a Spring Program, introduce area children and their families to the world of classical and contemporary ballet. Today, HRB is considered to be the premiere pre-professional ballet company in the Houston region, and is recognized for sharing its gifts with the community and beyond. The Nutcracker’s brilliant blend of costumes, sets and choreography creates a magical storybook world enjoyed by children and adults alike. With a cast of more than 100 HRB dancers and area children, HRB’s masterful production is the highlight of the holidays! HRB’s mission is dedicated to providing the finest classical ballet instruction, education and performance experience to local gifted students, and to preparing them for a professional career in the world of dance. HRB also is committed to serving the suburban Houston region with high-quality theatre productions that educate, engage and entertain residents of all ages and perpetuate their appreciation of dance as an art form.
