Message from the Board
Swim season is upon us and the board would like to update you on the changes to the pool schedule this year. After reviewing the pool usage logs of last year, the board developed a revised schedule for 2012. The Sports Park pool will open early March for Spring Break and close again until mid-April. The pool will remain weekend-only until May when it will stay open all week long. The regular season will begin in June. The Swim team will utilize the pool during nonpeak times, and special lanes will be reserved for residents during the summer swim time. For the first time in years, special times will be allocated for Adult Swim. We plan to again offer the opportunity for private parties and are working to develop a reservation system for the Sports Park Pavilion. We hope that you will enjoy the schedule and the new changes intended to make our amenities available to all residents.
Swim season 2012
Can you believe it? The opening of the pools for the 2012 swim season is just around the corner. The board has decided to again have pool registration in the community as a service to our residents prior to the start of the season. Pre-registration improved the flow of residents into the pool last year and allowed attendants to focus on monitoring the gates and watching the pool area. The board has also committed to offering more opportunities to register this year. The first opportunity to registration for the 2012 pool season will take place Wednesday, February 22nd at the open board meeting. Registration will run from 7-8pm at the Kruger Elementary Cafeteria. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PRESENT THE FOLLOWING TO REGISTER: 1. Identification 2. All household pool cards 3. Signed pool rules (available online, limited copies available at the meeting) (Continued on Page 3) Wildhorse Messenger - February 2012

Join the Swim Team! The 2012 summer swim season is being planned already. Hard to believe, isn’t it? It takes many hands to make it possible for our kids to be able to have this wonderful sport. Summer Swim Team is one of the best activities for building self esteem, creating new friendships, and it offers an amazing value for the money. My son has been involved in summer swim team since he was five and is already talking about the fun we will have over the summer. As a matter of fact, he is counting down the days until their first summer swim meet. HERE ARE MY TOP 5 REASONS WHY YOUR KIDS SHOULD GIVE SUMMER SWIM A TRY!
1. Just about anyone can do it! The only prerequisite at our pool for joining summer swim is the ability to swim (anyway, anyhow) across the pool. No previous swim experience required. You just need a desire to work hard and learn. And as an added bonus, swimming is a life-long sport and useful life skill. 2. Affordable. Summer swim fees tend to be relatively inexpensive – considering your child can practice 5 days a week and participate in multiple swim meets throughout the summer. As far as equipment goes, you really just need a one-piece swim suit and a pair of goggles to get started. 3. Social. It is really easy to make friends with kids you train with just about every day! My son and his friends do their best to get from one end of the pool to the other first so that they have bragging rights on who is the fastest while waiting for their team mates to finish up. Then there are the swim meets themselves – tons of cheering for each other, writing sayings like “eat my bubbles” on each others’ backs, and relays! 4. Fitness. Whether your child plays soccer in the spring, basketball in the winter, or gymnastics all year long, swimming an hour a day 4-5 days a week during the summer just improves their overall fitness level. Cross training is excellent for any athlete. 5. Self Esteem. Regardless of what skill level your child starts the summer with, it is just about guaranteed they will improve as the summer goes along. Last summer I watched children that started the season off too scared to start their races on the diving blocks. With some positive coaching and lots of practice, they were diving off the starting blocks with ease by the time finals rolled around. Our league rewards kids with generous placement ribbons, personal best ribbons and a trophy at the end of the season. Make some memories this summer! Get your kids involved in summer swim and watch them flourish. If you have any questions or need more information on the Wildhorse Swim Team please email Kim at kimaterrill@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing your children in the pool this season.

(Private conversations among members in the audience are distracting to the conduct of the meeting. In case of a serious disorder or other great emergency, the chair has the right to declare the assembly adjourned to some other time (and place if necessary), if it is impracticable to take a vote, or in their opinion, dangerous to delay for a vote. 8. HOA Dues
Prepayment Incentive for 2012 NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE
The Board of Directors reauthorized the prepayment incentive for 2012. The HOA is offering ten $50 gift cards to be raffled off to homeowners who have prepaid their entire remaining year balance of by April 31st, 2011. The goal of the campaign is two-fold: to reduce the administrative burden of tracking residents at various stages of repayment and to reduce the number of delinquent accounts due to “missing” the payment due date because of an “oversight.” This plan also benefits residents who will have one less bill to pay for the remainder of the year. You will continue to receive quarterly statements from the management company showing a credit for the remainder of the year so you can track your balance. The Board of Directors would appreciate your consideration and cooperation with this effort. Pick up the Pile Happy New Year to all! As we embark on 2012’s journey, some will think of ways to improve upon themselves. I’d like to offer an idea to those that still think dog poop is fertilizer, let’s try picking up after our dogs. In case you were not aware, scientists have established the fact that the dog's gut harbors a particular type of bacteria known as the coli form bacteria. This bacterium includes the dreaded E. coli bacteria and also contains strains of salmonella and giardia. Now, since the rains have finally come, all the piles that have been left behind will be washed into our storm drains and contaminate our water supply. Not only is our water supply affected but perhaps even the air we breathe...I came across this article: SCIENCEDAILY (AUG. 18, 2011)
“Bacteria from fecal material -- in particular, dog fecal material -may constitute the dominant source of airborne bacteria in Cleveland’s and Detroit’s wintertime air, says a new University of Colorado Boulder study.” This was the first test conducted, for air borne disease so far, however, scientist presume other cities, with an abundance of the canine kind, will show similar results. Please be kind, don’t leave it behind. To those that pick up....THANK YOU www.pickupthepile.com Wildhorse Messenger - February 2012

WILDHORSE New Year and Resolutions
By Hjalmar Perez, CPT, LMT and Q Estrada, CI-PT, MTI
So a New Year and again resolutions! Do we know the definition of a resolution? What lifestyle changes do I have to commit too? What are obstacles we have to work around that will challenge us to commit? These are probably questions that come across our mind, the day of the first of the year. Honestly, do we have to be rigid or just create enough awareness to give yourself the energy to move to the next step? We all want our resolutions to be manageable and easy to complete. Well, we are here to assist you one more time. Last time we talked about S.M.A.R.T, how this acronym should be your golden rule to completing your goals, in this case your resolutions. So let’s begin with the definition of the word: resolution. The American Heritage Dictionary has 14 statements to define resolution. I will only state 3; 1. Firm determination. 2. The act of resolving to do something. 3. A course of action determined or decided upon. It seems, in our case, the 3rd is the most feasible. Let’s face it; this is the toughest step in the process. Most of us need to sit and be methodical about taking action. This fulfills the how, what, when questions. What are yours? With the start of any new endeavor, it’s quite common to look at our lifestyle and look for areas we can improve on. One change I made several yrs ago was to not make a resolution. Yes, not to make a resolution. I decided to make a list of 6-12
things I wanted to complete or change throughout the year. All had to deal with a nutritional goal, a fitness goal and a spiritual goal. I even went as far as, adding some volunteer, community, self care goals…just in those you have six ideas. Now you can work on a list for the whole year. Take some time throughout the month to glance and stay on track…don’t allow yourself to take two steps back. Now and again you might side steps but move forward. Take some quite time to glance at your list, to reflect on your journey and work towards fruition. What obstacles will challenge you and how will you overcome them? Let’s face it, there are going to be times when our Will will be challenged. Such things as our commitments to our family, our friends and our community will be barriers to overcome. The good news is, you have 365 days, 168 hrs per week and you only need a minimum of 30 to 45 minutes per week to 4 hrs per month to commit to one goal. Keep in mind, our resolutions should remain attainable and realistic. If you find there are too many goals, then scale back; reorganize and prioritize. No one likes feeling defeated. We do have the option to not put ourselves in the opportunity of failure. This 2012, let’s begin with a desire to set our course of action, to enjoy our journey to learn, to train, to maintain, to change; at all levels at all degrees. Also take time to reflect on positive changes; those that come from
our desire to change but also by the outcomes of our actions. As always, my business partner and I wish you balance, harmony, and good health. Be well be blessed.
Make an impact. 6
