SUMMERFEST & ANNUAL MEETING Thank you for the unanimous support in re-electing the standing Board Members: Darin Siefkes, Calandra Bradford, Brian James, Michael Kuykendall and Rebekah Shepherd. Summerfest was a success, the entertainment included a balloon twister, a bounce house, and a special guest band made up of students from the neighboring schools. There was a sign-up table for Girl Scouts and a sign-up table for the neighborhood watch. Some highlights from the Annual Meeting are; assumption of Deed enforcement and Architectural Control Committee Duties are going well. We discussed recent park improvements like the new playground equipment, pavilion, adult exercise equipment, Sprinkler system improvements, pool re-plastering and replacement of the roofs. Winners of the Home Depot Gift Cards were: Laura Morgan and Aaron Bangore During the Question and Answer a question was asked about the creek access road off of Foxhound Trail near the intersection with Dove Springs. There is growing concern that this is becoming a dumping ground and hang out area for teens with nothing else to do. If you see suspicious activity in this area, 311 is your friend. Please call and report any dumping of trash or other suspicious activity.

Hunter's Chase Gazette IRS Letters or Notices & Eight Facts to Know The IRS sends millions of letters and notices to taxpayers for a variety of reasons. Many of these letters and notices can be dealt with simply, without having to call or visit an IRS office. Before you panic consider these eight things to know and then call me Tim Hald CPA 512-363-5738. Here are eight things to know about IRS notices & letters • 1. There are a number of reasons why the IRS might send you a notice. Notices may request payment, notify you of account changes, or request additional information. A notice normally covers a very specific issue about your account or tax return. • 2. Each letter and notice offers specific instructions on what action you need to take. • 3. If you receive a correction notice, you should review the correspondence and compare it with the information on your return. • 4. If you agree with the correction to your account, then usually no reply is necessary unless a payment is due or the notice directs otherwise. • 5. If you do not agree with the correction the IRS made, it is important to respond as requested. If you need help then you must call me immediately because these letters and notices are time sensitive. Together we can send a written explanation of why you disagree and include any documents and information you want the IRS to consider along with the bottom tear-off portion of the notice. Mail the information to the IRS address shown in the upper left of the notice. Allow at least 30 days for a response. The IRS prepares the TAXES WITH THE WORST OUTCOME - CONFIRM THE TAX CALCULATIONS! You might be overpaying… • 6. Most correspondence can be handled without calling or visiting an IRS office. However, if you have questions, call the telephone number in the upper right of the notice. Have a copy of your tax return and the correspondence available when you call to help the IRS respond to your inquiry. If the letter totally confuses you let me help you.

Hunter's Chase Gazette A Focus on Heat Emergencies HEALTHY TIPS TO STAY COOL IN EXTREMELY HOT WEATHER

By: Concentra Urgent Care

Heat emergencies fall into three categories of increasing severity: Heat Cramps, Heat Exhaustion & Heatstroke. Heat illnesses are easily preventable by taking precautions in hot weather. Children, elderly, and obese people have a higher risk of developing heat illness. People taking certain medications or drinking alcohol also have a higher risk. However, even a top athlete in superb condition can succumb to heat illness if he or she ignores the warning signs. If the problem isn’t addressed, heat cramps (caused by loss of salt from heavy sweating) can lead to heat exhaustion (caused by dehydration), which can progress to heatstroke. Heatstroke, the most serious of the three, can cause shock, brain damage, organ failure, and even death.

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS

— Heat Cramps — • Sweating • Pain in arms, legs, and abdomen — Heat Exhaustion — • Moist, pale skin • Fatigue and fainting • Dizziness and lightheadedness • Headache and confusion • Nausea and vomiting • Rapid pulse and breathing — Heat Stroke — • No sweating • Dry, hot, red skin • Confusion and loss of consciousness • Rapid pulse • Temperature over 103º F • Seizures

CAUSES: The following are common causes of heat emergencies: • High temperatures or humidity • Dehydration • Prolonged or excessive exercise • Excess clothing • Alcohol use • Medications, such as diuretics, neuroleptics, phenothiazines, and anticholinergics • Cardiovascular disease

What to do in heat emergencies.. FIRST AID 1. Have the person lie down in a cool place. Elevate the person’s feet about 12 inches. 2. Apply cool, wet cloths (or cool water directly) to the person’s skin and use a fan to lower body temperature. Place cold compresses (Continued on Page 7)

As a Hunters Chase resident who has lived right here on Partridge Bend for many years I have a vested interest in this community and my neighbors!

How does the future look?

One of the most positive signs for Austin real estate is the shrinking inventory of homes for sale. In Austin there are 24% fewer listings on the market than this month last year (April, 2012 MLS single family home stats.) This is beginning to influence sales prices where the median sales price is up 9% from this month last year. Hunters Chase is no different with only 5 homes on the market during our busiest selling season. This lack of homes available should benefit home sellers and allow them more leverage in the negotiation process.

Please call me today at 576-1504 to find out how much your home is now worth in this market Keller Williams - 12515-8 Research Blvd #100 Each office is independently owned and operated

Hunter's Chase Gazette A Focus on Heat Emergencies- (Continued from Page 6) on the person’s neck, groin, and armpits. 3. If the person is alert, give cool water or sports beverages. It’s advisable to drink slowly and steadily, particularly if they are experiencing nausea. 4. For muscle cramps, give beverages as above, and massage and stretch affected muscles gently, but firmly, until they relax. 5. If the person shows signs of shock (bluish lips and fingernails, and decreased alertness), starts having seizures, or loses consciousness, call 911 and continue cooling procedures, as described above. DO NOT: • DO NOT underestimate the seriousness of heat illness, especially if the person is a child, elderly, or injured. • DO NOT give the person medications that are used to treat fever (such as aspirin or acetaminophen). They will not help, and they may be harmful. • DO NOT give the person salt tablets. • DO NOT give the person liquids that contain alcohol or caffeine. They will interfere with the body’s ability to control its internal temperature. • DO NOT use alcohol rubs on the person’s skin. • DO NOT give the person anything by mouth (not even salted drinks) if the person is vomiting or unconscious.

PREVENTION: • Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing in hot weather. • Rest regularly in a cool area; seek shade when possible. • Avoid strenuous physical activity in hot or humid conditions. • Drink plenty of fluids every day. Drink more fluids before, during, and after physical activity. • Be especially careful to avoid overheating if you are taking drugs that impair heat regulation, or if you are overweight or elderly. • Be careful of hot cars in the summer. Allow the car to cool off before getting in. • Avoid heavy meals and hot foods.
