Christmas Light Contest Winners!
January August 2013 2011
2013 Social Calendar
Presented by: The Women’s Group Information can change so please check each newsletter, the Yahoo Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group NorthpointeNeighborhood/ and the club house sign.
There were so many beautiful homes decorated for Christmas this year in our neighborhood! The judges said it was a very hard decision to only pick 3 winners. Next year we definitely need to expand the categories and possibly have a best overall in each village. Our Christmas Light Contest overseers need your help in order to make this happen. Throughout the year this year we are asking all of our neighbors in The Villages of Northpointe community to please donate items for the Christmas Light Contest event in 2013. I will put together baskets for each of the 1st place winners for each village. Items to donate would be things like a bottle of wine, champagne, boxes of crackers, chocolate, dips, summer sausages, Christmas candies, cheese knives, Christmas ornaments, even plain empty baskets etc. Anything you can think of that you yourself might like to receive in a gift basket will do as well as gift cards to Starbucks, coffee mugs, coffee, hot cocoa stuff. Anyway, you get the idea I’m sure. I appreciate you all for doing this for us! On to the winners for the 2012 BEST OVERALL CHRISTMAS DISPLAY: CONGRATULATIONS! 1st Place: 18910 Magnolia Arbor 2nd Place 18902 Rustling Ridge 3rd Place 12713 Madera Canyon Contest rules are simple: 1st place winners can only win 1st place every other year. Lights have to be on Friday – Sunday of the contest weekend from at least 6:30pm – 10:30pm . We ask this because we have to come back for two days and narrow down the homes. If we come back to see your display and the lights are off we can’t compare your display to the others on the narrowed list. Signs will be displayed in each of the yards by the Friday after the contest weekend for bragging rights! Copyright © 2013 Peel, Inc.

The Night of The Carolers We had so much fun caroling around the community. I wanted to extend a warm thank you from our carolers and my family for inviting us all to carol at your homes this past Christmas! We had a total of 20 homes we sang to that night and even at a few Christmas parties that were going on in the community! Afterward, we all came back to the club house for some holiday cookies, banana bread, candy canes, hot cocoa and spiced apple cider! We sang, we danced and laughed the night away. We didn’t get home until way after my bedtime! HA! Thank you also to Kyla Bayang and Melissa Desuk for helping me put together an awesome group of carolers and for bringing some great yummies! Also, thank you to Andrea McElroy and to her two beautiful kiddos, for helping me and my son decorate the inside of the club house, it turned out so fun and festive! We will be doing this again so if you didn’t get a chance to sign up there is always next year :)

The Compass THE MUD BATH Neighbors…for the New Year I present to you a primer on traffic congestion. As you can imagine, being on the MUD district board we learn a great deal about how all the public roads we build eventually get turned over to the county for them to maintain, as well as the requirements for the construction of same to satisfy the county. One of the things we are seeing in today’s world is a shift in how the county engineers view traffic flows and how each neighborhood fits into the big picture. Back in the day, developers would build a subdivision with one entrance/exit if possible. This provided a quiet atmosphere for homeowners with no “through traffic”. What has been discovered is that if all of the neighborhoods are built this way, traffic flows get concentrated on main roads with limited mobility. Thus we get roads like Spring Cypress where we all sit waiting for everyone in front of us to get out of our way. The “new” way of planning requires developers to give options on alternate ingress/egress in and out of their neighborhoods. And with “Eunice” the trusty GPS guiding all as we move about,
this should keep all of us out of each other’s way as much as possible. As such, you will see Northpointe Blvd extended to Shaw Road and you’ve already seen the back of Village Creek opened up to VNP. And in the future you will see more “cut throughs” to facilitate traffic. With the 249 expansion and Grand Parkway both scheduled for completion in the next 24 months, we should see dramatic improvement in our congestion problems in the near future. And now students.. some punny humor to begin your year…and yes, this one is a keeper! To wit: A bowling team is missing their best bowler, Dee. Her alternate Michele only averages 120 per game. The team is doing very poorly, having lost the first game of the match, when Dee finally shows up. The assistant captain is then bombarded by requests to let to take Michele out and to let Dee bowl, when she yells out ... “Do not ask for whom Michelle bowls, she bowls for Dee!” Class dismissed. ~Paul
