NOLAN RYAN JR. HIGH BAND

On Saturday, January 31st, members of the Nolan Ryan Junior High Band competed at the Alvin ISD Solo Contest at Rodeo Palms Junior High. The mostly 7th and 8th grade students performed very well, earning 134 Superior ratings, 15 Excellent ratings, and 13 Outstanding Soloist awards! The students prepared the solos in December and January for the contest, where they performed by themselves in front of a judge for comments and a rating. Percussion students in the Nolan Ryan Band will have an opportunity to perform at another contest in March. Shadow Creek Summer Swim Team Ages 6-13. Join the Swim Team to learn all four strokes, race against your friends, and improve your swimming ability. Practices run May-July. SHADOW CREEK RANCH Manvel High School sophomore selected to perform at the Junior Musical Theatre Festival Manvel High School sophomore, Kennedy Haygood, has been performing since the age of three. Whether it’s singing, acting, dancing or cheerleading, Kennedy has done it all. “We’ve always referred to Kennedy as the quadruple threat,” mentioned her mother Michele Haygood. Kennedy performed with HITS Theatre in “Hairspray” and “Ragtime” for seven years at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in front of nearly 431,000 attendees. She has also participated in Mac Performing Arts Collective (MPAC) workshops, where she has had the opportunity to enhance her acting skills by working with industry leaders. Since then Kennedy was selected to perform at the Junior Musical Festival with a select group of students representing Theatre Under

the Stars’ (TUTS) Humphreys School of Musical Theatre. She along with the other participants traveled to Atlanta, Georgia in January to perform pieces from the Lion King JR at the 2015 Junior Theater Festival. “Kennedy is one of our musical theater stars, who has a powerhouse voice and strong work ethic. I have little doubt that she'll be doing this professionally for a long time,” said David Soward, Manvel High School theatre director. Under the direction of David Soward, Kennedy along with numerous classmates involved in the Manvel High School Theater Arts Program will perform “Little Shop of Horrors” which is set to run January 29-31 at Manvel High School. SHADOW CREEK RANCH Manvel High School senior selected for McDonald’s All American Team The McDonald’s All American Games unveiled the official rosters for the 14th annual girls game during the selection show on ESPNU, and Manvel High School senior, Jordan Hosey, was on that list. Jordan, who has already signed with University of Texas to play basketball at the collegiate level, averages 22.3 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 3.1 steals per game, and 3 assists per game. She is the captain of the Manvel High School Girls Basketball Team, and according to her coach, has always been a leader. “She is the ultimate teammate, who always puts her team before herself,” mentioned Bryan Harris, Manvel High School head girls’ basketball coach. “She truly makes everyone around her better, and that is the true definition of a leader.” Jordan is not only successful on the court, where she is highly respected by her peers, but also in the classroom. “She’s has done amazing things at Manvel, will continue to do so in college and beyond,” said Coach To stay informed of all of the great things occurring in Alvin ISD visit www. alvinisd.net.

Sara was thrown over our fence at our boarding facility, so we have no history on her. She is the sweetest Mini-Poodle you will ever meet! She seems to be around 7-8 years old (12 lbs). We got her spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped and she is heart worm negative. She seems to be completely blind, as you can see from her pictures, her eyes are white. She is the sweetest dog you will ever meet!! She loves to sit in your lap, she loves to be held. She gets around great for her vision being compromised.
