It's kind of hard to think of Christmas in this heat, but the Christmas Committee is already in the midst of planning our second annual neighborhood Christmas celebration and we invite you to join us. Last year's celebration was a huge success and this year promises to be even better. Ideas are being discussed, plans being made and sub-committees formed. And, we have fun! FALL GARAGE SALE • OCTOBER 17, 2015 Need to make a little or a lot of extra cash? Do some spring cleaning and declutter your house. Less is more! Clean out that garage, attic, spare room or shed. A good rule-of-thumb is to get rid of anything you haven’t used in the last year. Give yourself plenty of time to get ready, at least a month. As you are gathering items, price as you go. This will make setting up for your sale much easier. It is so important to price everything; No one wants to ask you the price of items they are interested in. WallMart sells colored stickers with basic prices already printed on them. The set also includes some blank stickers which are easily written on with a marker or pen. They also sell tags with string; I have found these to be very handy for items that won’t hold the stickers. Be sure to have some extra bags on hand to put your customers purchase in. Insist that each purchase is put in a bag, that way when they start walking away and have a bag; you know it has been

paid for. Grocery bags or retail shopping bags are great. It is nice to have some newspaper handy in case the purchases are delicate. Be sure to get enough change from the bank. I get a few twenty’s, ten’s, 5’s, one’s and lots of quarters. Keep your larger bills in the house and don’t let your cash pile up; keep taking excess money in the house. Also, keep all your doors locked and don’t allow ANYONE in your house to use the bathroom or try on clothes. I have found that an apron from Home Depot is good to wear during the sale, that way you have change in your pocket for those small purchases and can provide them a bag to put their purchases in. This should get you started to having a REALLY SUCCESSFUL garage sale! Garage Sale signs will be sold for $10, if you already have one, please us it, if not you can purchase one from Gail Ford, 7614 Rolling Rock St. starting October 12th.

Woodwind Lakes GROUNDS COMMITTEE MEETING ACTIVITIES Greater Houston Landscape has been very busy replacing numerous sprinkler heads that were broken or not working well due to age. They have also been busy filling wet/muddy areas at all the lakes trails with new granite. They continue to collect numerous dead tree branches at all lakes, some of them have been large. The plan is to get a tree service company cut many of the dead branches in the tress before they fall to the ground. Polly, Section 4, attended the meeting and requested that the committee consider an upgrade to cul-de-sac 4D. Ryan will go by there in the morning to give a ballpark estimate to upgrade including the removal of a tree that is leaning considerably and flowers that give off an unpleasant odor. Ray also reminded the group that the Windfern entrance gate is schedule for a Fall facelift. Polly asked that Ryan also look at the wet areas near the entrance and consider a safe and inviting place for the kids to wait for the school bus. Ray asked Polly to get a group of parents together to encourage the Board to act on the school bus area. There is also a Precinct 4 sign at this entrance that Ray will check to see about getting repositioned.

Benches- Lynn reported that a bench at lake 1 is rotten so replacement should be considered. An estimate to power wash existing 15 benches will be considered or potential replacement. A bench is also a potential at cul-de-sac 4D. Cost for Benches made from more durable materials will be considered. Committee agreed to Terry's request to judge the December YOM with volunteers from the Christmas committee. The next season color planting will happen most likely the week of November 9, 2015.
