McNeil HS Project Graduation Needs You! Each year many high-school graduation celebrations turn into tragedies due to the use of alcohol and drugs as part of the postceremony festivities. In an effort to prevent this, Project Graduation, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to providing a safe, sober environment for McNeil High School graduates to spend their last night celebrating together, has been created. This year, McNeil HS has chosen The Main Event to host a postceremony "all-nighter" from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. An important fundraiser for the event is a "reverse raffle." A $100 donation gets you in the drawing for a $7,500 prize. Donations are limited to 250, so you have a one in 250 chance (or better the odds the more donations you make!) of winning. There will be a reception and dinner to announce the winner this February, but you do not need to be present to win. Meanwhile, there are other opportunities to sponsor the event in addition to this fundraiser. Please help the McNeil graduates, all 600+ of them, have a safe and happy celebration: Donate today! For more information on Project Graduation and this and other fundraisers, please visit: http:// mcneilprojectgrad.ch2v.com/

Interested in Hosting an Exchange Student? Traveling the world and experiencing new cultures is something many dream of but few are able to do. Hosting an Ayusa exchange student provides the opportunity to experience the world while bringing other benefits to their family and local community. For schools, opening their doors to an exchange student provides their students the opportunity to experience new cultures and expand their understanding of the global society. Not only will students be able to expand their circle of friends, they will be able to reference different perspectives of world events. The new perspectives that both local and exchange students gain through the exchange experience are invaluable for the ever-expanding global community. Ayusa exchange students are eager to learn and participate in school and community programs. They take their role as ambassadors for their country seriously. Ayusa students are not simply bystanders to their program year; they are active participants looking to make a difference in their host school and community. Aysua exchange students are strong academic performers, wellrounded, and open-minded. Prospective students go through an extensive interview process in their home countries and are evaluated for maturity, strength of goals, leadership skills, and academic

Families often learn new things about the U.S. and have different perspectives after hosting. The experiences and memories that are shared during the program last a lifetime and span international borders. For more information about hosting a high school foreign exchange student, please contact Ayusa at 1.888.552.9872 or by visiting the website at www.ayusa.org About Ayusa Ayusa is a non-profit educational organization that promotes global learning and leadership through foreign exchange and leadership program programs for high school students from around the world. MLK Day on January 18 is a National Day of Service From The Corporation for National and Community Service Legislation was signed in 1983 creating a federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service with leading this effort. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off." The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community." People of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are encouraged to get involved. To find an opportunity to volunteer, register one or learn more about the initiative and how to get involved, please visit http://www.nationalservice.gov/mlkday
