Tomasik Family Dental Hosts Halloween Candy Buy Back Dr. Tomasik Pays Kids $1 Per Pound; Candy will Ship in US Military Care Packages
Dr. Joshua Tomasik will host the eighth annual Tomasik Family Dental Halloween Candy Buy Back on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 3:00 to 5:00pm. The event, hosted by participating dentists across the country, benefits American Military troops, while helping trick-or-treaters reduce their sugar intake over coming months. Children and parents should bring their leftover, sealed Halloween candy in a disposable bag. Team members of Tomasik Family Dental will be on hand to weigh the goodies and give kids $1 cash per pound (up to 5 pounds) of donated candy.
Candy Buy Back, you don’t have to register, and the program is absolutely free. Simply show up with your leftover Halloween candy on November 1, 2017 between 3:00 and 5:00 pm. Tomasik Family Dental is located near the intersection of Hwy. 71 and Hamilton Pool Rd. in front of the LTYA Sports Fields at 13917 Hwy. 71 W., Suite B, Bee Cave, TX 78738. If you have questions, please call the office at 512-402-1818 or visit the website.
About the Program The Halloween Candy Buy Back program benefits Operation Gratitude (www.operationgratitude.com), a program that sends care packages to US Military troops serving overseas. The candy that is donated is not only enjoyed by the troops, but also by the children of the area they are serving as well. Last year, the Halloween Candy Buy Back program sent over 125 tons of care packages to troops. Join the Sweet Fun! If you’d like to participate in the Tomasik Family Dental Halloween

Ladies of Charity Lake Travis Making a Difference and Changing Lives
Twenty-six years ago Ladies of Charity Lake Travis Thrift Shop opened its doors in Lakeway with the purpose of providing financial support to L a k e Tr a v i s Crisis Ministries and today we are not only Lake Travis Crisis Ministries’ primary donor, but we have formed relationships and partnerships with over 30 charities throughout Austin and beyond. In collaboration with our partners, donors, patrons, and volunteers, we affect change and affirm lives. One of our primary partners is Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Community First Village. It is a 27 acre master-planned community that provides affordable, sustainable housing and a supportive

community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas. Most of its residents have been on the streets for years before finally finding a home of their own at Community First Village. Many have suffered a catastrophic loss of family which is the primary cause of homelessness. In the Village, they are surrounded by love and acceptance and share in a true community spirit. LOC-LT has been a supporter of Community First Village since its inception and we had been looking for that “little something special” that would enhance the lives of the residents. Last week, it all came together as Ladies of Charity-Lake Travis hosted a “Ladies Day” at our Thrift Shop for 20 of the ladies from Community First. In collaboration with one of our neighbors, Hat Creek Burgers, the ladies enjoyed lunch with some of our members before arriving at the Thrift Shop. They were so excited, laughing, joking and talking and just being a group of women enjoying each other’s company while lunching and shopping. They shopped at the store for two hours, enjoying every minute! What a day it was for all of us! They left loaded down with all their purchases and looking forward to their next visit! It seems like such a small thing, to go to lunch and shopping with (Continued on Page 8)

Bee Cave Messenger (Continued from Page 7) your friends, and something most of us take for granted but for these ladies it was a special treat. They were so joyful to be doing something so simple and ordinary. We ended that day feeling that we made a difference in the lives of those women and knowing that they made a difference in ours. This simple little outing was made possible by Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Hat Creek Burger and Ladies of CharityLake Travis working together to bring joy to our formerly homeless friends and in the end, we all made a difference in each other’s lives.
to increase the amount provided to our beneficiary partners. Hence, we have begun a Capital Campaign to build a larger facility. We are asking the community to join us in raising the funds to do so. We invite all of you to join us in this grand endeavor by donating funds, volunteering at the Shop, or donating goods. Visit our website at www.laketravisthrift.com for more details. Together we can do great things!
Our little Thrift Shop is the heart of our association. It allows us to touch lives every day. Our membership and our Thrift Shop volunteers are joined together as pieces of a puzzle. All are committed to the mission of serving the poor in our community and around the world. Each of us is connected to our patrons, our donors, our fellow volunteers and our beneficiary partners. It takes all of us to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Separate, we can do little but together, with Christ as our guide, we can do great things! The numbers of those needing services have grown over the years, and the Thrift Shop has tried to meet those expanded needs by increasing the size of the shop three times in the past 26 years. Friends of the Shop have generously continued to increase their donations of physical goods and so it is once again time for the Ladies of Charity-Lake Travis to expand to a larger facility in order
