Bridgeland High School FFA Booster Club Lines the Streets of Bridgeland and Cypress Communities with the American Flag and Thanks its Supporters The Bridgeland FFA Booster Club serves FFA students and the BHS chapter of the National FFA Organization. The club’s mission is to use its resources and gifts to further promote the experiences, education and leadership development of students through agriculture and FFA endeavors. The determination of booster parents and the executive board, generous private donations, and fundraising within the community makes it all possible.

BHS opened its doors to students in 2017 and the club was formed as a 501c3 organization the following year. FFA families and boosters have devoted enormous amounts of energy and support every year, proudly growing the club’s impact and student reach at BHS. Fresh ideas for fundraisers were a focus of the board this school year, and there are big accomplishments to report, plus news on current programs for Bridgeland residents: • Achieved a major objective by committing funds to the chapter for the purchase of livestock trailers. This level of gifting from the club to BHS FFA is a “first” in the school’s history! The club is beyond grateful for the generous gifts from an abundantly big-hearted FFA family who made this possible. • Jumpstarted the school year with donations from a highly successful livestock prospect show held during the summer at the Waller County Fairgrounds. • Sold beautiful poinsettia plants, followed by top quality steaks and meats from Gourmet Ranch. • Kicked off an annual flag subscription service. • Offered an Easter egg hiding service for Bridgeland residents. • Delicious fajitas from Gourmet Ranch coming soon. • Scholarships totaling $11,000 will be awarded to BHS seniors this year! If you know a senior in BHS FFA, encourage them to request an application from the booster club by emailing bridgelandffaboosterclub@gmail.com. Kid Entrepreneurs Get Help From Andrew and Amanda By Janet Gutherie
There are kids that grow up ready to take on the world. They have the attitude, the skills and can spot opportunities that are right for them. They are excited about life, they are prepared and know they will handle whatever life throws their way. More than ever, successful kids are exposed to ideas normally associated with entrepreneurship. To be a successful entrepreneur requires creativity, empathy, communication skills, problem-solving ability, practical mathematics and a knack for spotting something at the right moment and having the confidence to act. Raising a child with an awareness of entrepreneurship and the associated skills can change their life for the better even if they don’t go on to start or scale a business. At the very least, the same set of skills will steer them towards opportunities that are right for them. Fairfield siblings Andrew and Amanda Nichols are kid entrepreneurs, just like the ones Daniel described above. They have been running their own businesses since they were both 11 years old. One of their priorities is to inspire other youth entrepreneurs with strategies and practical tools to turn their passions into generating income. Thanks to International Business Global Radio (ibgr.network), Andrew and Amanda have a weekly radio show Saturdays at 1 pm called Z Gen Entrepreneurship. Their listeners (called Baby Sharks) can tune in for an hour each week to learn about topics such as Passion to Product, The Money Factors, Work/School Balance, Marketing and Credibility, and much more. So go to ibgr.network or anywhere you access your podcast and search for Z Gen Entrepeunership to access past and upcoming radio shows. You can also follow and order from their local businesses! Make a New Room THE TIMES Without Building One By Jackie Devine Are you looking for a quick and costeffective way to add a man-cave to your home? Maybe you've been thinking it’s time to turn your garage into a showroom for your classic cars? Or perhaps you have been thinking of updating your patio. Then Sean McCord with Spartan Concrete Coatings is the guy you want to call. SCC is a local, family-owned business specializing in installing high-end polymer floor coatings, resulting in a cost-effective, durable and attractive way to improve your garage or patio's livability and appearance. You’ll also find his work in commercial applications such as offices, laboratories, automotive facilities, laundromats, and warehouses. "Our industrial-grade finishes," explained Sean, "are environmentally friendly, tough, and durable enough to last for years without discoloring, lifting, or peeling. Plus, our finishes resist chemicals and tough stains, making clean up easy and simple." "That sounds intriguing, but I need more information," I said. "How do you apply the surface, how long does it take, and how much does it cost?" Sean jumped at the chance to explain his process. "First, we prepare the floor by diamond grinding the entire surface. Then we clean, patch and repair visible chips, cracks, and expansion joints. After that, we apply a coating consisting of a thick primer epoxy base coat. Next, we broadcast 1/4-inch flakes (available in a variety of colors) to refusal. Meaning we throw flakes until the epoxy won’t take anymore. Lastly, we seal the floor with a UV stable glossy polyurethane (standard price) or polyaspartic (would be an upgrade). "Installation takes one to two days. After that, the floor is ready for foot traffic in as little as eight hours and ready for vehicles in 24 hours. Any two-car garage (up to 400 square feet) runs around $1395.00." In preparation for a summer of parties and entertainment, I suggest you give Sean a call to get your garage or patio restoration started.
