Briarhills Summer Update From the BPOA Board Summer is fast approaching so here’s a quick update on what the Briarhills POA Board has planned for the late spring and summer. The extended pool season was a big hit last year so we are bringing that back again in 2021. The pool will be open weekends in May, Tuesday through Sunday during the summer, and weekends again in September after Labor day. Check the website for the official schedule and pool hours. We are still waiting for the Briarhills Dolphins to make a decision for this season, and by the time you read this that decision should be made. We are planning to bring back the 4th of July parade and BBQ this year. A significant portion of the population should be vaccinated by then, so this hopefully will also act as our end of COVID and return to normal party. Stay tuned for specific details on the 4th of July Party. A small amount of money has been allocated by the Board to supplement the Landscape Committee’s fundraising efforts so over the next few months they will be holding volunteer days to extend the path on the West side of the clubhouse and build a gravel patio at the back entrance. They have been busy all winter pruning and getting the plants ready for spring so hopefully we will have a beautiful wildflower garden and thriving clubhouse landscaping again this year. BRIARHILLS AMENITIES & ELECTRONIC ACCESS CARDS Available for the use and enjoyment of each resident is the Briarhills POA Recreation Center. The Recreation Center includes four and two-tenths (4.2) acres equipped with a swimming pool for the family, a wading pool for tots, lighted tennis courts, playground equipment, a community clubhouse, basketball court and off-street parking. Electronic access cards are required to access the pool, unisex restroom and tennis courts. Registered property owners and tenants may receive 2 cards per property address. Check the website or contact the POA office to obtain access cards.

SWIMMING POOL The swimming pool is normally open from Memorial Day weekend through the start of school in August, six days a week (Tuesday through Sunday). The pool is staffed with certified lifeguards during swim season and maintained by a reputable pool management company.

TENNIS

BRIARHILLS COMMUNITY CENTER The Briarhills Community Center may be reserved by residents for private events. Check the website or contact the POA office to make a reservation.

MONTHLY BOARD MEETINGS The BPOA board meets at the Briarhills Community Center on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Residents are invited to attend these meeting where the board will discuss and make decisions on issues that will impact the Briarhills POA community.

POA MAINTENANCE FEES Invoices for BPOA dues are mailed in early December. Please contact the POA office if you do not receive your invoice by December 15. Non-receipt of the invoice does not preclude payment of the dues. The above information is subject to change without prior notice.

Feel free to join us with your family to build a patio for the clubhouse | Saturday, April 17th | 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Please bring your mask, gardening gloves and your own water to drink. And if you have, please bring shovels, buckets and wheelbarrows. We plan to construct trail and patio edges, build some more flower beds and spread sand, soil and gravel, while networking and having fun together. Let’s continue to beautify our community garden! LOVE BRIARHILLS FUN RUN A BIG thank you to all of our neighbors who participated in or donated to the annual Love Briarhills Fun Run and showed their support of The Project Playground Campaign! Despite having to go virtual this year, we had 81 people register and we were able to raise more than $1,600. We hope that next year we can all run together and celebrate a “return to normal!” Special thanks to this year’s sponsors: Sadaf Javaid Cognitive Psychiatry; Energy Realty – Sherry Campbell; Maylis Curie, Realtor and Neighborhood Resident; M&R Houston Events; and Constantin Platon with O.A.K. Thank you, neighbors!! With your help, we raised enough money through our brick fundraiser to build a patio for our clubhouse! The bricks will now be engraved and then shipped from Philadelphia. We hope we get them and can display them sometime before summer. All of the donations will flow into the community garden. Thank you also to those lending a hand when needed, cutting flowers and spreading soil and mulch, watering the plants when they look to dry, collecting garbage when things get messy and giving the garden some love and care.
