Lakes on Eldridge North
Volume 20, Issue 04
The LOEN Ladies Club operations have been very limited for a full year now. Hopefully, later in 2021 the club will be able to resume a few more activities and get back to providing our members and all the women of the Lakes on Eldridge North community with opportunities to become acquainted through monthly club events and activities. Once the COVID-19 vaccine program extends to all adults, then the club anticipates that in-person activities could restart. Until that time, only three of our groups will continue to meet virtually: Bridge, Daytime Book Club, and Book Club. If you would like more information about the Ladies Club, please email Jeanne MacKenzie at loenladiesclubpresident@gmail.com.

Smart Cycling Class Saturday, April 10th
Bowen Roberts, a certified cycling instructor, will conduct a Smart Cycling class on Saturday, April 10th at 9:00 am in Lakes on Eldridge North (LOEN). To sign up or for more information, contact Bowen at 832-834-1960 or email him at broberts@bikehouston.org Students will learn basic bike handling skills and the fundamentals of riding safely on streets and roads. There will be about 1-1/2 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of on-bike practice. The on-bike practice will be mostly parking lot drills, finishing with a short, slow paced group ride on quiet residential streets. Minimum age is 13 years (no maximum!). Students must be able to balance their bike while riding. Separate learn-to-ride classes can be arranged through the instructor. The class will cover how to safely start and stop, shift gears, turn and avoid obstacles. The lecture portion will cover rules of the road, where and how to ride safely, signaling and more. Students will provide their own bicycle. A helmet and appropriate footwear are mandatory. Upon request, we will inspect your bicycle before the class for key safety items including tire pressure, brakes and chain condition. To minimize the spread of COVID-19, the training will be held outdoors with natural ventilation. We will require participants to wear face masks except when on the bicycle. We will maintain 6-foot separation during the group ride and during the classroom instruction under the roof. The instructor may approach within 6 feet during the parking lot drills. Proceeds from the class will be donated to BikeHouston.org. In the event of rain, the class will be held at the same time Saturday, April 17, 2021. Lakes on Eldridge North - April 2021
