MUD 341 Notices With the hurricane season here, you may want to register for the Municipal Utility District’s (MUD) Customer Notification System at https://tsds.link/otQz76. This system allows the MUD and TNG to quickly inform residents of a water, sewer, drainage, trash or other District related outage or important event. Our MUD 341 also has a website for additional information. http:// www.hcmud341.org/
Hurricane Season is Here! Did you know…. During his second voyage in 1494, Christopher Columbus sheltered his fleet from a tropical cyclone. This is the first written European account of a hurricane. During his fourth voyage in 1502, Columbus warned the governor of Santo Domingo of an approaching hurricane, but was ignored, resulting in the loss of a Spanish treasure fleet of 20 ships and 500 men. Please see the Hurricane Safety Checklist on page 6 and get prepared for the 2021 Hurricane Season.
Tanner Road Gate Access Reminder The gates on Tanner Road (Ginger Pond & Heather Run) are for RESIDENTS ONLY. These gates are not to be used by visitors or contractors. We need your help in making sure your visitors and contractors are aware of this. When visitors and contractors come in the front gate, information is recorded and they are provided with a daily visitor pass so that in the rare instances when there is an incident, we will have records of who is in the community. All residents should also have a decal on their vehicle. The decals and guest passes help our patrol officers identify vehicles that have been provided entry or are registered in the community. Please contact Donna McDonald if you need a decal at donna.mcdonald@fsresidential.com. Your cooperation is always appreciated in helping keep LOE a safe community. Copyright © 2021 Peel, Inc.

Lakes on Eldridge The Little Free Library is a year old!
Now that it’s warm outside and others are using the pool patio, we have moved to inside the clubhouse. Plenty of room, masks recommended. We welcome anyone to join us! Usually the 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 PM (we sometimes move the date because of holidays, so check with celeste.fritz@gmail.com ) Are you an avid reader but just can’t make it to Book Club? Check out LOE’s Little Free Library at the bus stop in front of the club house. Take a book/bring a book – looks like there has been great turnaround, so even if you don’t see something you like now, check back later. June 28 –Liberation by Imogen Kealy To the Allies, she was a fearless freedom fighter, a special operations legend, a woman ahead of her time. To the Gestapo, she was a ghost, a shadow, the most wanted person in the world. But at first, Nancy Wake was just another young woman living in Marseilles and recently engaged to a man she loved. Then France fell to the Nazi blitzkrieg. With her appetite for danger, Nancy quickly finds herself drawn into the underground Resistance standing up to Nazi rule. Gaining notoriety as the White Mouse, with a 5-million-franc bounty hanging over her head, Wake rises to the top of the Nazi's Most Wanted list — only to find her husband arrested for treasonous activity under suspicion of being the White Mouse himself. Narrowly escaping to Britain, Wake joins the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and parachutes into the Auvergne, where she must fight for the respect of some of the toughest Resistance fighters in France. As she and her maquisards battle the Nazis, their every engagement brings the end of the war closer — but also places her husband in deeper peril. A riveting, richly imagined historical thriller, LIBERATION brings to life one of World War II's most fascinating unsung heroines in all her fierce power and complexity. This is the story of one of the one of the war's most decorated women, told like never before. Let’s read!..... 4

Lakes on Eldridge Did you know that all of the LOE Swans have names? Toni is the swan who lives at Crescent Bay Lake. She came to us from the San Antonio Zoo. As a baby Toni was rejected by her parents, which often happens in wildlife if the parent instinctively knows there is something wrong with their offspring. Betty Burkett who leads the Wildlife Committee agreed to accept and try to rehab this baby swan who, although a month old, was still not eating properly. Betty’s plan was to give Toni to Juliet a female swan who has adopted other babies in the past. However, Juliet did not want anything to do with poor Toni. Nobody really knew what was wrong with her. She was able to swim but was still not eating. Betty then had the idea to put her with some ducklings who were ready to swim and knew how to eat. This combination worked, and after being kept together in a pen for a week they were all released into the lake. Toni has now lived at the Crescent Bay Lake for a year and half - and the ducks have stayed with her! She is very protective of the ducks even though they are now fully grown. Toni is on a strict diet, and should only be fed leaf lettuce (other than iceberg). She is not aggressive because she is female and young. If you are out and about in that area, say hello to her and her duck friends! Many thanks to Betty and the Wildlife Committee for all their efforts with our local waterfowl.
