Bridgeland's Veteran's Day Festival

THE TIMES

Bridgeland’s Veterans Day Festival held on November 7 at Lakeland Village Festival Park celebrated the many veterans in the Bridgeland Community who have served our country. The Park was pleasingly decorated with a huge flag, balloons, streamers, balloons, ferns & most importantly veteran’s photos with a brief description of their service to the USA. Residents enjoyed perusing the many photos depicting military experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bosnia, Japan, Korea, New Guinea, Guadalcanal, Caribbean, Africa, and every continent. This joyous day which lets freedom ring was celebrated with a dedication ceremony, free cotton candy, hot dogs, a great band, bouncy houses and many games for the children. Many thanks to the Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans, Inc. and Bridgeland Council for sponsoring this event. THE TIMES

Submitted by Stephanie Fantasia Whether people find themselves moving to the Houston area for work, school, or in pursuit of a better life, Cypress is often their first choice. Cypress offers highly-ranked schools, thriving youth and athletic programs, wellmaintained playgrounds and pools, and beautiful trails and lakes, making it the perfect place to live. Andrea Curran, team lead of the Andrea Curran Team, says, "There are no people like Cypress people. We love being a part of this community." You'll find The Andrea Curran Team all over Cypress sponsoring youth sports teams and school music programs, feeding the hardworking heroes at the local firehouse, sending appreciation gifts to teachers, supporting local small businesses with their Deep In The Heart of Cypress video series (andreacurran.com/videos), and much more. You can also find the team sponsoring various projects benefiting Cy-Hope and Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue, two of their favorite local nonprofits. "This community means so much to us and we want to serve our neighbors, whether it's people in need or our clients," explains Andrea. Andrea Curran was born and raised in small-town Alabama on the Tennessee River, nestled in the Appalachian foothills. She loves literature and music and can never have too many horses or rescue dogs. But her greatest passion is helping people. It's that passion that made her an award-winning teacher for fifteen years and eventually even led her to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care. It's also that passion that drove her to begin her real estate journey only a few short years ago. In 2016 Andrea became a licensed real estate agent and fell in love with helping her buyers and sellers so much that she decided to start her Cypress team in 2019. Only two short years later, Andrea Curran is ranked in the Top 100 realtors on HAR out of more than 40,000 agents. This year, the team won a Wall Street Journal Real Trends Award for their production, ranked among Copyright © 2021 Peel, Inc.

teams nationally. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to climb the ranks so quickly, but they've made it look easy while giving back to the Cypress Community everywhere they can. As the housing market continues to be a hot topic, a common recurring question is who should you trust to help achieve your real estate goals? Whether you're buying or selling, doing so with the support of a top-producing team affords you extra benefits. Made up of an amazing group of talented and hardworking individuals all working together to offer clients the best real estate experience possible, The Andrea Curran Team puts client care and communication first in all things. When asked about her clients, Andrea states, "Nothing is more important to us than our clients. In all things, we center around our core values of integrity, relationship, impact, and expertise." The Andrea Curran Team takes pride in offering their clients every possible resource to succeed. Their clients can expect nothing but the best as the team is partnered with Compass Real Estate, one of the world's fastest-growing and most innovative real estate firms. Both the buying and selling experience will be met with the most technologically advanced tools and guided by the most knowledgeable agents. When choosing The Andrea Curran Team, clients can expect sophisticated marketing, professional photography, professional listing videos, aerial photography, open houses, ethical practices, clear communication, and detailed knowledge of the real estate market. The Andrea Curran Team cares about its clients and their community. They take pride in building relationships all over Cypress because not only do they love it here; they live here. They enjoy being your neighbors and know how much Cypress has to offer. Their real estate journey began here, and their team has grown here, thanks to the support of Cypress friends and neighbors. THE TIMES A Little Lady with a Giant Christmas Spirit by Jackie Devine Dulce Cain, a native Venezuelan, met and fell in love with her husband, Jim Cain, when he was on assignment in Venezuela. He asked her to marry him and move to the United States. Forty-three years ago, she said yes, and they have been happily married ever since. Dulce combines her Venezuelan heritage with her adopted American life to create a melded traditional holiday season. They have a blended family of seven children. Together they have 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild Many folks in Cypress hire a team of elves to help them decorate for the holidays. But not Dulce Cain. If you want to talk about the holiday spirit, Dulce has it! When Dulce invited me to her home to see her Christmas collections, I could tell that she felt Christmas was one of the most memorable times of the year and that she was determined to make sure her home would be filled with magic and tradition. She led me into her formal dining room, which now served as a salute to Christmas. I found a beautifully illustrated snow village laid out with 49 illuminated houses, stores, and churches on my right. Everywhere I looked was a different scene. Trains were zooming through the countryside; carolers were caroling, trolleys were delivering shoppers, and children were sledding down the mountainside. To my left, I discovered an elaborate Venezuelan village with over 100 tiny houses made of wood or ceramics, brightly hand-painted and creatively lit. I could feel the excitement of the miniature villagers as they ushered in the yuletide season. Festive miniature trees filled every available nook and cranny. Little people appeared to be dancing, singing, and having a grand old time. Just like an actual city, cars swept through the village, people shopped, and carolers spread joy. Dulce then escorted me toward her living room, where an illuminated tree in silver and gold hues delighted my eye and gave me a nostalgic sense of a classic tree collected-over-time look. As we moved down the hall, I found numerous collections of one-of-a-kind nativity scenes and displays of the angelic realm. As we moved into the kitchen and great room, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a host of Santas, more trees, scores of poinsettias, and what felt like hundreds of candles all lit and welcoming me into the room. There is no doubt; I was truly blessed to be the recipient of a one-of-a-kind local Cypress Christmas tour. But, equally important, I've since learned that having a home all decked out for the holiday season can not only put a spring in a person's step but also elevates one's frame of mind. Thankfully, I was one of the beneficiaries. I'm convinced that having the holiday spirit brightens our mood, lifts our attitude and promotes mental health well into the new year. Dulce genuinely has discovered the recipe. I know because I was the beneficiary of her love and dedication to the spirit of Christmas. 8
