Hydroponic Gardening – Benefits Are Endless

Hydroponic Farming What is hydroponics? The word, Hydroponic, comes from Latin and means working water. Simply put, it is the art of growing plants without soil. When most people think of hydroponics, they think of plants grown with their roots suspended directly into water with no growing medium. This is just one type of hydroponic gardening known as N.F.T. (nutrient film technique). There are several variations of N.F.T. used around the world and it is a very popular method of growing hydroponically. What most people don't realize is that there are countless methods and variations of hydroponic gardening. Hydroponics is a branch of agriculture where plants are grown without the use of soil. The nutrients that the plants normally derive from the soil are simply dissolved into water instead, and depending on the type of hydroponic system used, The term hydroponics originates from the ancient Greek "hydros," meaning water, and "ponos," meaning work. It can sometimes be mistakenly referred to as aquaculture, or aquiculture, but these terms are really more appropriately used for other branches of science that have nothing to do with gardening.

Types of Hydroponic Growing Systems •Aeroponic System: One of the most high tech growing systems

•Drip System: The most widely used type of hydroponic systems •Ebb and Flow System: The system can be modified in many ways •N.F.T.: Nutrient Film Technique System - most commonly thought of •Water Culture System: A very simple to use hydroponic system •Wick System: The simplest of all hydroponic systems

Advantages and Disadvantage of Hydroponics Advantages:•A large land is not needed. Can be done even in a small house. •Damages bys oil born diseases or by nematodes are minimum. •Harvests can be obtained in a short time. •Farmers Can maintain a pure cultivation environment as soil is not used. •Water wastage can be minimized. Disadvantages:•High Capital Expenditure

•Skilled Labor required for the preparation of nutrient media, for measuring the pH value for measuring the electrical conductivity etc.

Hydroponic Gardening – Benefits Are Endless The characterization of hydroponics is budding plants without the need of soil. It originated its name from 2 Greek words, Hydro & Ponics. In this procedure, instead of obtaining nutrients from earth, the plants are supplied nutrients directly to their roots. The foods nourished to the hydroponics plant could be called in a number of names such as liquid fertilizer or hydroponics nutrients.

Plants grown hydroponically could be supported in water, sand, gravel, or even in the air. Conventionally grown plants are left to “take care of themselves by having the nutrients they require to grow from the soil. However, hydroponically grown plants are given water and food directly to the roots and enable them grow quicker and bigger.

Another advantage of growing vegetables in hydroponic gardens is the amount of space, which’s saved. In conventional farming, plants grown in soil and their roots have to extend out far and wide to search for nutrients. But the roots of hydroponic plant don’t have to extend out so far as they can find their nutrients directly from their roots. As a result, you can have more plants from the equal amount of space. Soil grown vegetables have to depend on the natural atmosphere for such things as temperature, light and humidity. The vegetables in hydroponic ranch can be supplied required quantity of temperature, humidity and light on a regular basis. Soil based plants are vulnerable to weeds, pests, and soil borne infection; but such risks are comparatively very low in a hydroponic farming system. The pests or bugs that active in soil can’t attack the vegetation. Also, weed can’t develop because there’s no soil. Usually growing soil based vegetation or plants take a lot of time and hard work. On the other hand, hydroponics is a considerably simple means to grow plants.

Pegasus Agriculture is found to be one of the largest owners’ & operators of hydroponic farming facilities in the Middle East & Northern Africa. They’ve truly transformed the growth of vegetables and fruits in different areas by using the advance technology in the production procedure and eradicating the requirement for overseas imports.
