CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
WORLD YOUTH FORUM: 70 YEARS FROM D-DAY EYP-France Caen
27th of May - 8th of June 2014
Dear EYPers, On the 6th of June 1944, the Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy to free Europe from National Socialism. On the 6th of June 2014, Normandy will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of this battle that marked a turning point in the history of Europe. The European Youth Parliament France has been requested to create an event that would open the European debate to young people on the basis of this common past. This unique EYP forum will take place in Caen from the 27th of May to the 8th of June 2014, gathering 250 young people and important international personalities. The event offers possibilities for exchange on our common European history, a round table and active participation in official commemorations and other important events together with heads of state. EYP-France is determined to make Caen an event comparable in size and scope to an international session, with official positions open to everyone. We will invite 14 Chairs, 1 to 2 Editors and 3 Vice Presidents.
Applications are now open, and we invite you to apply here. Don't hesitate to contact us at international@pejfrance.org should you have any questions. Bonne chance, EYP-France

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear EYPers, In Caen, EYP will be an integral part of the commemorations for one of the most momentous events of the 20th century which initiated the arduous, wonderous path to the European Union we know today. As members of the Chairs Team for such a prestigious event, your responsibilities will go far beyond the ‘basic’ chairing experience: with visits from Heads of State and other dignitaries, and with numerous official events that you and your committees will be required to participate in you will be the ambassadors of EYP both in non-formal and very formal surroundings. This is a challenge, but also a great opportunity for the entire organisation to leave our mark on global movers and shakers. C h r i s t o p h e r Tr i p p (Germany), President of the Forum.
You will be invited (and expected!) to create a common understanding and vision for the session – the team will devote a significant amount of time before the session to finding and adapting concepts and our style for this unique event. Actively utilizing your experiences inside and outside EYP will be crucial for the success of the team and of the event. As VPs you will additionally have personal responsibility for concepts and session elements. For this, the board will meet for a preparation weekend prior to the event. As Editors, we are looking for individuals excited about the prospect of actively shaping an over-arching session vision. Beyond the requirements for chairs and strong proven chairing skills, we will consider creativity, technical skills, previous pressroom experience and a commitment to making a lasting impact on the session as key. The selection panel places great emphasis on the transparency and fairness for the selection procedure. A reasonable cohesiveness of nationalities and experiences for the teams will be pursured, but the guiding principle of the selection is meritocracy. Thus, we encourage all applicants to take care with their applications. The selection panel will provide all applicants who were not selected feedback on their applications.
