Suggested Activities P 2 & 3 Show pictures of the places in town (e.g. a bank, a hospital, a library, a supermarket, a petrol station, etc.) to the children. Then, get them to name the places. Then, ask the children if they have been to those places before. P4

Prepare picture cards of the different traffic signs, and place them around the classroom. Ask the children to form a line and walk behind you. When they reach the ‘Stop’ sign, get the children to stop. Guide the children in walking towards the other traffic signs and performing the actions accordingly.

P5

Prepare picture cards of the different places (e.g. a restaurant, a post office, a hospital, and a petrol station). Ask the children to name those places. Then, tell them the function of each place (e.g. A restaurant serves food and drinks, etc.).

P6

Guide the children in reading the directions in the book. Let them role-play using those directions. (Suggest using Kids’ Voice application to encourage children to record and listen to their voice for better pronunciation.)

P7

Get the children to revise the names of the different places in town. Guide the children in reading the sentences and completing the activity in the book.

P 8 & 9 Show photos of the different types of shops (e.g. flower shop, toyshop, bookshop, etc.) to the children. Introduce the names of those shops. Then, ask the children to name the things that are sold in each shop. P 10´

Prepare pictures of people walking towards the different shops (e.g. a man/woman walking towards a bookshop, etc.). Ask the children, “Where is he/she going?” Then, guide the children in answering the question (e.g. “He is going to the bookshop.”). (Suggest using Kids’ Voice application to encourage children to record and listen to their voice for better pronunciation.)

Prepare pictures of electrical appliances (e.g. an oven, a rice cooker, a vacuum cleaner, and a sewing machine). Ask the children to name the pictures. Tell them the function of each thing (e.g. An oven is used to bake bread and cakes, etc.).

P 12´

Get the children to name the different types of shops that they have learnt (e.g. bookshop, toyshop, etc.).

P 13´ & 14´

Prepare pictures of animals in the zoo (e.g. tiger, lion, zebra, etc.), as well as pictures of sea animals (e.g. octopus, jellyfish, shark, etc.). Show the pictures to the children and guide them in naming the animals. (Suggest using Kids’ Time application to view 3D animations.)

P 15´

Paste picture cards of different animals on the board (e.g. an elephant, a giraffe, a zebra, and a tiger). Ask the children to name each picture. Then, get them to say something about each animal (e.g. “The elephant has a trunk.”, “The zebra’s body has stripes.”, etc.).

P 16´

Show picture cards of the different animals eating (e.g. those that eat plants and those that eat meat). Guide the children in forming sentences that describe what animals eat and do not eat (e.g. “A zebra eats plants. It does not eat meat.”, “A crocodile eats meat. It does not eat plants.”, etc.).

Guide the children in mimicking the different animal movements (e.g. run, slither, swim, hop).

Guide the children in reading and guessing the riddles in the book.

Show picture cards of people doing different jobs (e.g. postman, teacher, farmer, etc.) to P 19, ´ 20 & 2 1 ´ the children. Ask them to name the different occupations. Then, show picture cards of the corresponding places of work to the children. Get them to match the people to their places of work. Ask the children to talk about what each person does (e.g. “A postman delivers letters.”, “A fireman puts out fires.”, etc.). P 22

Prepare flash cards based on the text shown in the book. Guide the children in matching the flash cards to complete the sentences.

Bring photos showing people of different races (e.g. Thai boy, Chinese girl, Indian girl, etc.), as well as photos of the corresponding traditional costumes (e.g. Songkran shirt, cheongsam, sari, etc.). Get the children to match the costumes to the people who wear them.

Pair the children up and get them to wai and to greet each other (e.g. “Happy New Year!”, “Happy Chinese New Year!” or “Happy Songkran Day!”).
