Suggested Activities P2

Get some children to role-play as father, mother, son and daughter. Create situations whereby they need to apologise to one another. Observe them to see if they say ‘Sorry’. Discuss with them the importance of saying ‘Sorry’ when they make mistakes.

Get 2 children to demonstrate the polite way of talking on the telephone. Discuss the importance of being polite to others.

Ask the children if they help to keep the house clean. Encourage them to do so if they do not. Discuss the importance of keeping the house clean.

Show the children pictures of switches and sockets. Ask them if they play with switches and sockets. Advise them not to. Discuss the consequences of playing with switches and sockets.

Show the children some pictures of people drawing on the wall. Ask the children if the people in the pictures are doing the right thing or the wrong thing. Teach the children to appreciate and to take good care of the things around them.

Suggest using Kids’ Time application to view 3D animations.

Bring some toy food (chicken, fish, vegetables, eggs, rice, noodles) to the class. Give 5 children a plate each. Ask the children to put the food they like on their plates. Observe them. Discuss with the children the consequences of being picky about food. (Suggest using Kids’ Voice application to encourage children to record and listen to their voice for better pronunciation.)

Ask the children if they wash their hands before and after meals. Bring a bar of soap and a basin of water. Teach the children the proper way to wash their hands.

Show the children pictures of nutritious food and non-nutritious food. Let the children determine which of the foods are nutritious and which are not. Encourage the children to eat more nutritious food. Discuss the importance of eating nutritious food.

Tell the children what might happen if they talk with their mouths full (e.g. food gets spit out, might get choked, etc.).

Teach the children some simple stretching exercises, and get the children to do them every day. Discuss the importance of exercising every day. (Suggest using Kids’ Voice application to encourage children to record and listen to their voice for better pronunciation.)

Bring the children to the school playground. Let the children play for 15´ minutes. Observe to see if they wait for their turn to play. Discuss with them your observations of their behaviour after their playtime is over. Advise those who had misbehaved. Encourage the children to wait for their turn patiently.

Show pictures of a group of children playing safely, and another group playing dangerously at the playground. Get the children to identify those who are safe and those who are in danger. Teach the children to play safely. Discuss the consequences of not playing safely.
