This look is simple, because the lips are going to be very bright and vibrant, the eyes must be kept as neutral and understated as possible. Step 1: Apply your concealer and foundation and finish with powder for a smooth even toned face. Step 2: Start your bronzed-out smokey eye by applying, the lightest gold to the inner corners of the eye and gradually use darker colors, building up to the darkest in the outer V. (I used 3 shades, light gold, bronze and a dark brown for the smokey finish). Step 3: Add eyeliner/eye kohl, mascara and liquid liner if desired. Step 4: For added colour add some blush on the cheeks and a little bronzer to sculpt the face. Step 5: Finish with a red lipstick, lip stain or lip gloss whatever is your preference.
Look #2: New Year’s Bombshell Items from the previous look will be duplicated except the eyeshdows and lipstick/lipgloss. For this look, glitter and glam is definitely in, amp up your eyes with intense glittery shadows and a sultry pout will have tongues wagging. Ravi B and Karma Support The Cancer Cause The audience at a recent all-inclusive cancer benefit was left craving more after a performance by Trinidad and Tobago’s musical powerhouse Karma. The members of the renowned Chutney-Soca outfit gave of their time and talent to assist in raising funds and bringing awareness about this illness that affects many lives in T&T and around the world. The elegant event entitled “A Christmas in November” was held at the Anchorage Beach Club and was headlined by Karma featuring the energetic and multi-talented Ravi Bissambhar (Ravi B), his captivating and charismatic sister Nisha Bissambhar (Nisha B) and young, musical dynamo Gregory Ayuen. Backed by a team of youthful, dynamic musicians the vibrant vocalists had the venue rocking with a high-powered and diverse set.
With a virtually never ending supply of stamina, the band delvered a wide range of musical genres such as Soca, Chutney, Pop, Dance and R&B. Ravi B kept the crowd moving to several of his original hits including “Ah Drinka” and “Cya Come”, while Nisha B had the audience singing along to her renditions of popular songs by Destra, The Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna. Much to the patrons‟ delight, Gregory paid homage to the classics by rendering such fan favourites as Stalin‟s “Black Man Feeling to Party”, Tambu‟s “Free Up” and Lionel Richie‟s “All Night Long”. This fundraising extravaganza has been produced for the past 9 years by the Lucy Joyce Blackman Foundation which is spearheaded by sisters Heather and Judith Blackman who lost both parents to cancer. Both ladies were thrilled to have Karma as a part of the 2011 edition of this event which donated proceeds to the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society‟s outreach program, an initiative that benefits several citizens. Judith Blackman, who is already receiving requests to organize another similar event, attributed much of the fundraiser‟s festive atmosphere to Karma‟s presence. She shared, “The band not only brought joy to the
cancer survivors and their families who were in attendance, they emphasized the whole point of partying for a positive purpose”. Ravi B took a moment onstage to underscore the importance of researching about cancer as well as to implore the gathering to continue the support of this very worthy cause. Although Karma is currently completing its last string of international gigs before Carnival 2012, the band members were truly glad to be on hand in their homeland for this important occasion.
Young & DeterminedKhiry Flemming Promises to Infiltrate with Soca In 2012 The young and determined are coming forward with a level of will power to succeed in the soca industry than ever before seen. T&T and the world is being advised to get ready for the pene-
tration of a young Siparia native who‟s just about ready to turn things up in a very dramatic way. Khiry Flemming is 17 years old and he‟s about to strike.
With a single called, Doh Ease Up, produced by Holy House Production‟s Mr. Spine, Flemming who is still in fifth form at the Debe High School, South Trinidad, says he‟s guaranteeing that this song will be a hit. With a humble but sure personality, Flemming believes the time has come for him to bite into the soca market and with that his goal ahead of C2K12, the youngster‟s prepping for what‟s to come.
Khiry‟s no new comer, in fact he‟s been around music since the age of seven. As a secondary school student, Flemming found himself involved in various school competitions and at the age of 13, his family, noticing his ability, decided to nurture and mould his talent. Khiry was introduced to Ashford Joseph and he was professionally trained vocally for the first time in his young life. It was only the beginning of what would come, as from that point, things took off and soon Khiry would record a gospel single and later a soca parang single he
called, Whe De Parang Gone. He was only 13 years old.
Later, the young high school student would record a track called Wine On Me- a single that saw him enter the Soca Star 5 competition in Trinidad. It was no surprise to those who knew him when he made it to the final leg of the competition and while he was not crowned the winner of Soca Star 5, Khiry saw the stage and the opportunity to perform before such a massive audience in a brand new light- one that he would always want to be a part of. The Soca Star experience afforded introductions to the greatest artistes in Soca, among them- Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin and The Millionaire Family. He also met producer, Mr. Spine who he has been working with in recent months. Describing working with Spine as exciting, the youngster who idolizes Michael Jackson and looks up to Machel Montano as an artiste with the greatest stage presence, said he too has been able to erupt on stage, in such a way that people are often caught off guard. “ My personality off stage is very different from when I hit the stage,” he admitted, referring to his on stage presence as explosive.
He‟s had the opportunity to show off his ability following his Soca Star 5
appearance. I fact, some might say that Khiry‟s been doing big things. As the lead vocalist of a new band out of Siparia called, Acktive Mindz, Khiry has performed for audiences on a number of accessions at Checkered Flag- a liming spot near Skinner Park in San Fernando. Additionally, Khiry and the band performed this year at former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning‟s fete on the hill.
These days though there‟s strong focus on Doh Ease Up, a track which was written by Khiry himself and is carded for release in the coming days (as of this writing). According to the youngster, it‟s all about one man relating an experience about a dance he had with a female at a club, to another. He is certain that this song will sit well with music lovers of all ages. Aiming for the highest heights, young Khiry Flemming says he will not give up, no matter the struggle. He is a believer in a good fight to the end, and with that attitude, he is assuring that when he strikes in C2K12 everyone will feel the sweetness of his sound. *Is young Khiry carded to be the next Machel Montano? Only time will tell...one thing is sure, this kid has the talent needed to succeed!
Pellau caught up with “Trilla” from the new group “D LINK”. Trilla is an upcoming artiste out of Trinidad who‟s sights are locked on the international arena! So Trilla...why that name? True +Real equals Trilla. I got the name Trilla based on my personality I guess. My friends gave me the name and that‟s how I live till this very second.
So how did you get your start in the Industry? In the school‟s class room. I was the class comedian always telling jokes. But all that changed when I met my match, who put me to shame because he rhymed with the joke. From then on I started as a battle artist until I was discovered by Mr. Sheldon 'SHEL SHOX' Benjamin in 2001.
What are your current goals? I am working on collaborations with several hot producers from L.A, LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA and GHANA. I am also working on a new music video for one of my club joints which is getting heavy air-play on the radio stations in those countries.
