PELLE PETTERSON: WORLD CHAMPION AND LEGEND Starting with an internship at Volvo, he became a designer icon for both the automobile and boat industries. Pelle Petterson’s passion for the sea was awakened in Kullavik, Sweden, which was to propel him into a marine career. This is the story of the greatest legend of our time in sailing and industrial design. Amongst his designs you can find Volvo’s sports model P1800. The vehicle became a cult. Today the P1800 is an icon for the entire automobile world, as well as products ranging from Watches to a Stena Passenger ferry. More than 100.000 boats have been built after Pelle’s designs including the Nimbus and Maxi Yachts.

ON THE PODIUM

DESIGN HERITAGE

Pelle Petterson’s sailing career has given him two Olympic medals and dozens World Championship medals in sailing races. He is also a two-time challenger in the America’s Cup, one of the greatest races a sailor can take part in. Among all his awards, there are some that stand out from the others. Winning Star World Championships and being awarded a prize by King Gustav V in person after winning the Kungakannan sailing race in Särö four times. He received the Royal Institute of Technology’s Great Prize in 2004 and H. M. the King’s Medal 12th size for special merits in 2011.

Cecilia Petterson, daughter of Pelle Petterson, is the founder and designer behind the clothing company Pelle P. The brand is based on Pelle´s lifestyle and his accomplishments as a top level sportsman. Cecilia grew up around sailboat racing and on the ski slopes with her dad. She studied at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, USA.

AMERICA’S CUP has

had a special place in the family since Pelle Petterson was behind Sweden’s first challenge for the cup, which took place among the classic twelves in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1977. Pelle took his whole family to the United States and was involved in two challenges there, both as designer of the boats and as helmsman. In 2010, Pelle P became the official clothing supplier of the Swedish America’s Cup Challenger Artemis Racing. America’s Cup is innovative and fearless, where you are challenged every second and the design is tested in it’s true environment by top athletes - we call it TRUE EXPERIENCE.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Our brand should be visible, but make minimal environmental impact. From the beginning of Pelle P, the environment has always been a concern of ours and caring for it an important philosophy for our brand. Pelle Petterson himself knows the importance of caring for nature and the environment having lived almost all his life participating in sports such as sailing, downhill skiing and golf. It is from this mindset Pelle P originated. But for us, it's not just about creating products that meet your expectations. It is also about developing materials that can handle tough wear when used while having the lowest possible environmental impact. The technologies used to recycle fabric are still in constant development and the potential is promising. We use recycled polyester in many fabrics and insulation materials. Each season, the proportion of recycled material in our collections is getting bigger and bigger, and with the help of innovative partners we are constantly moving forward. We understand that in order to make a difference in environmental impact everyone must take responsibility. Therefore, it is important to us to continue to innovate to make as small of an environmental impact as possible. The production of clothing (and most other physical products) will undoubtedly affect the environment, however it is possible to influence how big the impressions will be. An example of our continued effort toward sustainability is our biodegradable and reusable bags given to customers instead of plastic bags within our stores Those who work with our product development visit our production partners several times during the production period. This ensures a good quality standard and working environment, as well as maintaining good relationships with our suppliers, which is also an important component in sustainable manufacturing. We are doing a lot of good today, but at the same time we know that we can always find ways to improve.

P PUTTER P PUTTER Art no. PP9680 The P Putter is developed and manufacture in Sweden, with a unique, functional design and exceptional balance that will build your confidence in every putt. The putter is the most used golf club during a round of golf. On average, the putter is used at approximately 50% of all shots. The P Putter’s head and neck are precision milled in the high grade aluminum alloy Zicral. The bullet shaped balancing weights at the outer ends of the putter head and the counterweight at the top of the grip are lathed in stainless steel. Artisanal production takes place in Billdal, Sweden. The combination of material and design increases stability and provides the ball impact with a special and reassuring sound. A very high MOI (moment of inertia) is achieved though the balance weights position, which further is enhanced through the design of the putter neck. The large offset neck helps to ensure that the hands and shaft lead the club head and ball through the stroke. A ball scoop is designed behind the center of the clubface, this is a semi-spherical recess having a radius corresponding to a golf ball. The shape of the”ball scope” and the long sight line in the middle of the scoop makes it easier for the player to align the putter towards the target. The sight line also aids the putter movement when the club head is swinged backward and forward in a vertical plane, swing path that coincides with the specific target. The unique and functional design of the P Putter, with its perfect balance, is intended to inspire confidence in the player to provide greater precision and aid distance control with a good feel.
