Dear Cattlemen,

Welcome to our 44th annual Bull Sale. Since the inception of Hyline Angus Ranch 64 years ago, we have always strived to identify cow families that thrive under our western range conditions. We have done this thru Montana Beef Performance Assoc. and now thru AHIR. Most of the cow families in our herd go back at least 10 generations of progeny ratios of over 100 ratios on their calves. It is our belief this is how you get predictability in the cattle, by culling off the bottom end and only keeping the top producers. Our cattle are Practical and Predicable.

2022 turned out to be a challenging year for us. My father in law got sick in July, and Alice and Tillie were busy taking care of him. John passed away on Sept 11. He was a good man and will be missed by all. This was a very stressful time for the family. 30 days later Alice was informed by her heart doctor that she needed immediate open heart surgery to replace her aortic valve. Off to Missoula we went. It was decided there that she would need a mechanical valve. I made sure it was an American made valve! The surgery went well but 7 days after the surgery she developed a blood infection which landed her back in the hospital for another week. She is on the mend now and doing well. Between doctor visits and time spent at the hospital I have not been around the ranch much. Ben was on his own taking care of everything and we appreciate all his hard work. He did a great job and took a lot of stress off of me. Thanks so much to Ben, Kirby and son Leo for all they do. All in all I am really glad 2022 is over!

The bulls selling are Stout and Sound. They will increase weaning weight and will leave you with females that will have added value. This year after the bulls were weaned, they were turned back out on grass til the end of Oct. They were started on feed the 1st of Nov. We feel by limiting the amount of time in the feedlot will help endure soundness down the road. The bulls are performance tested, PAP tested and fertility tested and ready to go to work for you. PAP results will be available the first part of Feb. Normally the results are in the catalog, but we wanted to wait as long as possible to test them for more accurate results.

This is an awfully good set of bulls and we know they will work really well for you. We really appreciate your continued support of our program.

Please join us on Feb. 24, 2023 at Headwaters Livestock in Three Forks for a delicious TriTip lunch at noon with the sale starting at 1 pm. Hope to see you sale day for good conversation and a great set of bulls.

There will be a $200 discount for any bulls taken home that day.

Thanks from all the folks at Hyline!
