I stopped, for my daughter. I started, because my friend offered me a cigarette and I thought that is how you belong to a group of friends. I let cigarette control my life. I see girls smoke and I was curious. My daughter asked me a question as such “If I asked you to stop smoking can you stop smoking?” So, I challenged my daughter, if I were to stop smoking, will you start to lose weight. After trying for many months, finally it was 12th April 2016 that I quit smoking. After all, I felt so accomplished having overcome something I thought I could never do and felt I was in control of myself. I started smoking at 17 years old while I was a student and it has been 11 years since I have quit smoking. It sparked a light after seeing an advertisement by Penang Adventist Hospital. I enrolled myself in this programme and I began to quit smoking after my holidays in Singapore. On a whole, I have been an inspiration to my son and my relatives to quit smoking. As soon as I quit smoking, I have financially been able to spent more on things which I used to avoid when a big budget had been going for my cigarettes. The 11 years that I have quit smoking, I have actually saved about 60k. Can you imagine how much money I have burned while being a smoker. Think About It. My message to everyone, is “It’s never too late to quit smoking.
Almost four out of every five smokers would like to quit. And almost half of all adult smokers have already quit.
It doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve smoked. You become healthier and stronger each day you are tobacco-free.
