Last Minute Gift Guide 2012
Simple tips to help you wrap gifts with style The holiday season is right around the corner, and that means the presents will be piling up before you know it. This year, before you reach for the usual old boxes and bows, rethink your wrapping routine with these simple, inexpensive ideas to help you punch up every present. Not only will you surprise and delight everyone on your gift list, but you’ll also set the tone for a holiday season they’ll never forget. Think beyond the box: Hold the sweater boxes and wrap your gifts in more interesting packages. Items like baskets, buckets and tins are not only fun to unwrap, but they can also pull double-duty by being used around the house after the gift has been opened. If you saved gift boxes from last year, try repurposing them with bold, new twists. Decorate box lids using rubber stamps to create a personalized look that showcases your recipient’s initials and favorite colors. Or, create a one-of-a-kind package by covering a box with colorful ribbon or decorating it with festive holiday tape. You can even use it to create various designs.
Add an adornment: Amp up the wow factor of each package by adding an embellishment that doubles as an extra gift. Holiday ornaments, silk flowers and even pieces of costume jewelry will make each present a little more personalized — and much more fun to open. Instead of ribbon, you can also try tying up packages with leftover pieces of yarn. Not only is it a cute and unexpected adornment, but the fuzziness of the yarn also adds a cozy texture that’s perfect for the holiday season. If you’re looking for a final finishing touch, try making a bow out of raffia, tulle or holiday-themed packaging tape.
Play tag: Repurpose last year’s holiday cards to create gift tags that shine. Just cut a design or picture from the front of the card. Then, punch a hole near the edge and use a felt Keep it under wraps: Set aside traditional wrap- marker to write your recipient’s name on the back. ping paper in favor of unexpected materials to make Thread some ribbon through the hole and secure gifts feel even more special. it to your gift for a quick and easy tag that’s sure to For glitz and glam, try wrapping presents in silver stand out. tissue paper, sparkly scrapbook paper or sheets of foil From cute and quirky to stylish and sophisticated, to create stunning style. a few simple materials and these easy tips are all For the crafters in your life, seasonal fabric makes you need to make each gift as unique as its recipient. a great alternative to wrapping paper; and those who No matter whose gifts you’re wrapping this holiday love to travel will appreciate gifts wrapped in repurseason, they’re sure to find your one-of-a-kind creations simply unforgettable.

Last Minute Gift Guide 2012
Five perfect presents that make gift-giving easy The holidays are a special time of year to show the important people in our lives how much we appreciate them — and often that means gift-giving. If picking out holiday gifts is painless for you, you’re one of the lucky ones. More often than not, people have a tough time finding the perfect present for friends and family, particularly if you have someone on your list who already seems to have everything. So, if you’re stumped as to what to get that impossible-to-buy-for person, consider these five gift ideas that are sure to brighten anyone’s holiday:
1. Gift your services Rather than giving a tangible item, give your services; it’s the perfectly practical gift for the person on your list who may be short on space, lacking financial resources or would just appreciate a little extra help. Love kids? Offer free child care so the recipient can enjoy an evening out on the town without worrying about the little ones. Have a knack for cooking? Gift a weeknight meal that you deliver to the recipient’s doorstep. Known for your organization? Offer your skills to help the recipient organize a closet, office or other cluttered space.
2. Make a miracle happen Positively impacting others by giving a charitable gift in the recipient’s name embraces the true meaning of the season. You can give locally to any number of nonprofits including the United Way, a Rotary club, the Peninsula Daily News Home Fund or another organization that your gift recipient supports. The new Give Miracles Holiday Catalog (www.GiveMiracles.org) from national nonprofit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals features in-demand pediatric items and services that local children’s hospitals need — anything from comforting teddy bears ($30) to a case of extra-small preemie diapers smaller than the palm of your hand ($170). For high-impact gifts like a physical therapy toy kit ($375) or a pediatric wheelchair ($970), funds can be collectively raised by numerous gift-givers. This option is ideal for extended families looking to do something more meaningful than the typical gift exchange.
3. Purchase a membership to a monthly club Rather than wasting money on a new gadget that will quickly be forgotten, give a gift that benefits the recipient all year long. Monthly clubs provide fun deliveries to a loved one’s address, an ongoing reminder of your generosity. Monthly gift clubs are available for just about anything, from wine and beer, to jams and cheese, to bacon and fruit.
4. Give a gift that grows Potted plants are a fantastic gift idea because they represent how your love continues to grow for that special someone. Plus, plants are a wonderful addition to interior decor and help clean the air. With so many houseplants readily available, you’re sure to find the perfect one for the person who has everything. Does he gravitate toward decor with vivid color? Choose a flowering plant that provides delightful blooms. Does she love Asian culture? How about gifting a bonsai tree or a bamboo plant?
5. Provide an experience Often, it’s not what’s in the box, it’s the memory that stays with so many people after the holidays have passed. That’s why giving a special experience can make a truly meaningful gift. Think about what really interests the recipient or an activity they’ve had on their bucket list. Perhaps it’s a hot air balloon ride or a white water rafting daytrip. If the person really loves to shop, hire a personal shopper for the day and let them see what it’s like to live like a star. If the recipient loves gourmet food, purchase a spot in a class. Any one of these ideas is sure to show that hard-to-shop-for person on your list that you’ve put some real thought into their gift. And ultimately, isn’t it the thought that counts? — Article from ARA Content

Great gift ideas for grandparents The holiday shopping season has returned and legions of holiday shoppers are hunting for that perfect gift. When it comes to holiday shopping lists, many friends and family members are a breeze to shop for. Is there an ardent sports fan in the family? Tickets to a ballgame will likely be a homerun. Need to find something for the family film buff? A few of his or her favorites on DVD should suffice. But as easy as some people are to shop for, there’s always a person or two who’s nearly impossible to find something for. One group that many people find particularly difficult to shop for is seniors. Unlike kids who would enjoy the newest video game or a gadget-crazy adult who just wants the latest must-have appliance, senior citizens are often more difficult to shop for. But there are gifts that can still strike a chord with grandma or grandpa and ensure their holiday is just as enjoyable as everyone’s.
Gift baskets Holiday gift baskets are filled with goodies that nearly everyone loves. Cookies, coffees, fruits and even reusable items such as holiday candles are often good choices to put in gift baskets. When giving a gift basket, be sure to consider your loved-one’s health and any special dietary needs.
Give a night out on the town

Gift certificates While some might think a gift certificate is a little detached, that doesn’t have to be the case. When giving a gift card to a nearby clothing store or other retailer, make a day of it and go shopping with that special senior citizen in your life. Reading, too, is often a favorite hobby of the elderly, so a gift certificate to a nearby bookstore could also be a perfect fit.
A vacation In many instances, grandma and grandpa live far away from their children and grandchildren, particularly these days, when families are spread out more than ever. Paying grandma and grandpa’s travel expenses so they can come visit the family could be the best gift they’ve ever received, and it will give parents and their children a chance to spend more time with the family.
Some seniors live on fixed incomes, which greatly reduces the amount of money they have available for entertainment — that can make a night out on the

The alloy is nickel-free, lead-free and is also lacquered for added protection. The artisans are from Taxco do Alarcon, Mexico.
