Dear Resident, It’s hard to believe this month we welcome Spring! What a wonderful time of year to be living in South Florida! Once again, our Lifestyle Director, Jenniffer Paulino, has curated an impressive lineup of events and experiences at an array of venues and for all interests. In addition to our weekly yoga class, we are offering a new group fitness class, Tai Chi, every Thursday in the Fitness Studio. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise involving a series of slow, focused movements and deep breathing. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, is a noncompetitive, selfpaced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi has many different styles. Each style may subtly emphasize various tai chi principles and methods. There are variations within each style. Some styles may focus on health maintenance, while others focus on the martial arts aspect of tai chi.

HEALTH TIP Christian demonstrates the correct vs incorrect form for performing the hip hinge. The hip hinge is a fantastic exercise to strengthen the legs, hips and back muscles. CORRECT HIP HINGE
• Weight is on the heels of the feet • Slight bend to the knees • Back is in a neutral position • Keeping tension within the shoulders and upper back • Neck is in line with the rest of the spine INCORRECT HIP HINGE
• Leaning too far forward on toes • Back is rounding which can cause disc herniation • No tension within the upper back or shoulders • Neck is not in line with the rest of the spine
