One of our residents form Penrhos, Pwllheli is a keen gardener and shared some top tips for your garden this summer

MR SOLEK, SHARED SOME TIPS ON HOW YOU CAN CREATE BEAUTIFUL DISPLAYS.

Plant perennials so you have flowers every year. Use containers/plant pots to grow your plants and flowers, this is so you can move them around to change the flower displays you see. Also, you can change the position of plants i.e. light / shade / dark spaces, this will help optimal bloom! ANOTHER RESIDENT’S TOP TIP ON HOW ORANGE PEELS CAN HELP YOUR GARDEN.

If cats are ruining your garden, you can scatter orange peel on flower beds where you do not want them to pass, they don’t like this so will stay away! Orange peels can also help with any slug issues. If you cut an orange in half, scoop out the flesh (eat it) and put the empty half on a flower bed (you will need to place this dome side up where you are having problems with slugs) and by the morning there should be some slugs underneath. Collect them and dispose of them. Leave the skins for a few days.
