school of botany at jardim das virtudes Porto - Portugal master thesis december 2011 - december 2012 Politecnico di Milano mentors: prof. Rosaldo Bonicalzi prof. Vincenzo Petrini arch. Carlotta Torricelli
The project is based on the image of three long lines that, while connecting the two opposite sides of a gorge inside the city, provide a new viewing experience from and to the Douro river. exhibition pavilion The exhibition pavilion builds the for the politecnico university existing edge between the city and Milano - Italy the university campus. The builtborder can’t be anything else than a studio project wall which divides two different remarch 2012 - july 2012 alities: the old-existing city and the new city of knowledge. Afterwards Politecnico di Milano the wall is fitted for its exhibition mentors: role which represents the exchange prof. Lola Ottolini between these two different worlds. prof. The Basketball Academy is a facility that takes care of children and their athletic and cultural education. The concept comes from the traditional construction of villages in Senegal: all the buildings are shaping around some trees. The project creates a sort of new village where there are houses, school and gym. The housed are developed around a common open and covered space that allow children to gather together. team: F. Ballabio, G. Cappellini, V. Fermi, C. Martegani, L. Pennati.

The best exhibition proposal for this concept comes from the work of Antony Gormley, called Event Horizon. team: G. Cappellini, V. Fermi, L. Pennati
