move.ment_change of place or position_a series of organized activities working toward an objective Responding to the context of the athletic fields, train tracks and the stir of traffic on the highway ramps, one common theme becomes clear: Movement. Movement is visible on every scale, with the changing steps of a runner, maneuvering teamwork from a group of rowers, dynamism of a roaring crowd and the stirring of cars surrounding the site. This graceful flow is a part of everyday life, velocity moving people forward in a constant flow. In a responds to the north edge of the site, recycled shipping containers are used to address these different scales of movement, frames are created in the back stage, capturing snapshots of the ever changing site and city. Vinyl draping hanging down from the containers forming the proscenium blurs and filters these views gestuing motion. A track circulates the pavilions seating echoing the notion of exercise. Progressing through the site, landscaped ramps mimicking the form of the highways lift off the track and lead up to halting views of the city and water front: allowing people to stop for a moment and take in the scene. Translucent vinyl railings line these ramps, pinching down in places to open up views, and lift back up, to blur once again; constantly shifting flow. Ramping and terracing the field held by the track creates a view for every level of fixed seating, migrating up to an open gathering space. Ascending the field, views of the stage reach up to the cars on the highway, bringing in a final row of seating and maximum visibility from all angles. The ramping circulation system taps into existing paths ensuring utmost accessibility from the surrounding area. Addressing movement, the site is ever changing, having the ability to evolve into any program that inhabits it. The versatile design layout appeals to multiple purposes including awards ceremony, exhibits, music performances, outdoor theater and other social gatherings. The shifting landscape and architecture of the site provides for a flux of energy to inhabit the space. Movement in the site reaches out to that surrounding it, capturing the commotion of the games, transit, and beauty of Toronto.

Phoenix re_Broadcast. 33
An extension to the existing park has the potential to reconnect downtown Phoenix to many amenities. Through each phase the city becomes further linked through green space, large circulation paths, bike paths and community gardens. A central green spine runs along the light rail providing easy commute as well as more enjoyable spaces for those who use public transportation. Completing the art walk will instill a notion of community and can further branch into the small art district.

freelancesigma alpha epsilon fraternity living The urban site is located 2 miles east of Arizona State University’s Tempe Campus providing close housing for commuting students. The light rail travels along the southern street Apache, giving residence the opportunity of using the rail station just two blocks away. All three buildings existing needed seroius rennovation including: complete new roof structures, interior partition walls, additional space allowing a chapter room and all the mechanical. I provided the intial drawings for this client beginning with “as builds which entailed detailed understanding of both measurements and specific use of each space. I followed with the schematic design of the repurposed motel with the goal of reusing the maximum number of load bearing masonry walls. This design has been selected and will be starting the demolition stage in July.
