Taking on the Broad Street Run with a Higher Purpose Bette Haitsch, co-chair of PPMC’s Cultural Diversity Committee and an avid runner, has been training since mid-February to participate in the 10-mile Broad Street Run on May 5, 2013. What started as a personal goal has now become a mission. Bette is now running with a higher purpose: to raise money for PPMC’s Cultural Diversity Committee, and she’s asking for your help. Money raised will help to support the committee’s educational programs focusing on diversity in healthcare, including its annual fall conference, lunchtime Brown Bag lectures, MLK Day celebrations, and the committee’s recruitment event, A Celebration of Culture. “Knowing that I am running for a cause which I am truly passionate about motivates me to work harder at each training run and will carry me across the finish line,” says Bette. Though undaunted by the challenge, Bette has a ways to go to reach her minimum goal of $1,500. By sponsoring Bette with a pledge of as little as $1 or $2 a mile, you can help to support the year-round programs and activities offered by the Cultural Diversity Committee. To make a pledge, email your pledge amount to Bette.Haitsch@uphs.upenn.edu with the subject line “I WANT TO SUPPORT THE CULTURAL DIVERSITY COMMITTEE!” Be sure to include your full name, location, e-mail address, and extension so you can be contacted after the race.

SAVE THE DATE – IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE PPMC will be celebrating all of our accomplishments from the past year on Thursday, April 18th, the one-year anniversary of our Magnet Designation! The celebration will be from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Location and details to follow!
