FROM THE MAYOR Garland is once again in its prime. Construction is at new highs and much more is in the pipeline; we are beginning to see activity in every sector of Garland. There is a reason we say “Texas Made Here. We have transformed the way we do business and we are bringing new interest to our community. Through a much easier and smoother process, developers are taking note and inquiring about the possibilities. It’s not only new construction; expansions are popular too. We recently celebrated the very large expansion at Kraft Additionally, the Campbell/190 Corridor is seeing major interest; we just finalized details for Raging Wire, a large data center to be built there. Other projects are rapidly following. South Garland is attracting new interest and proposals. A new grocery store, Winco, is set to open in a few weeks, their second location in North Texas. There is no doubt: we will continue to see a tremendous climb in business in Garland. Through the creation of our new Economic Development department and coordination with the Garland Chamber of Commerce, implementation of the new Garland Development Code, redefining of our building codes and just an overall, more efficient development process, we are making great strides. These new tools are now making it easier and more business friendly for developers to come to Garland and for existing businesses to redevelop, expand and grow. Healthy neighborhoods continue to be a top priority. We take great pride in our neighborhoods in Garland and are in the process of making a renewed effort to assist residents with tools and resources to reinvest and grow. Remember: Grow Community. Grow Opportunity. Grow Garland. Together we can make a difference and keep Garland thriving.

We’re excited to grow our team by finding great talent through our seasonal hiring efforts in addition to creating new full-time jobs that offer comprehensive benefits starting on day one. Amazon has more than 90,000 full-time employees across its more than 50 fulfillment centers and 20 sortation centers in the U.S. To meet customer demand and prepare for the 2015 holiday season, Amazon has hired over 25,000 full-time employees since August. Throughout the year on average, nearly 90 percent of associates across the company’s U.S. fulfillment network are regular, fulltime employees. Amazon also offers regular, full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where it will pre-pay 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. Parkland experts encourage early vaccination as flu season begins DALLAS – Fall not only brings cooler weather and football, it also marks the beginning of flu season that usually starts in October and can last through March or later. Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stress that this year’s flu vaccine is a good match for influenza strains expected this season. Anyone can get the flu regardless of age, and it can have serious consequences. Anywhere from 5 to 20 percent of the U.S. population is affected by the flu virus every season and about 36,000 people die. It is especially important for women who are pregnant to get vaccinated since they are at a higher risk for complications from the flu. “The bottom line is vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and your family against the flu, said Donna Persaud, MD, Chief of Pediatrics at Parkland Health & Hospital System. “It boosts immunity and also reduces the severity of complications if someone does contract the flu. Dr. Persaud said studies have shown that children who are vaccinated have a 74 percent decreased risk of getting admitted to a pediatric ICU with flu-related illnesses and similar risk reductions were seen in adults and the elderly. It’s important to get the vaccine early since it takes about two weeks for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection. That’s why Parkland’s Community Oriented Primary Care health centers are offering flu vaccines as part of the Walk-In Wednesday’s campaign. Dallas County residents can get flu

vaccines without having to make an appointment from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday during fall and winter months. If they prefer, people can call 214.266.4000 to schedule an appointment. Parkland accepts insurance, including Medicaid/Chip and Medicare. All children will be assessed to determine if they are eligible for the Texas Vaccines for Children’s immunization program. Patients who are enrolled in the Parkland Financial Assistance (PFA) program can get their vaccines covered at no or low cost. PFA members will be responsible for their payment dependent on the PFA level. For persons without health insurance, Parkland can provide financial screening. “Pregnant women with the flu have a greater chance for serious problems for their fetuses, including premature birth, Patricia Chenault-Salisbury, MS, APRN, Clinic Manager at Parkland’s E. Carlyle Smith Jr. Health Center in Grand Prairie. Most major organizations such as the CDC, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society of MaternalFetal Medicine encourage pregnant women to get vaccinated against the flu. “Some women fear that the vaccine will adversely affect their babies, but research has shown that there are health benefits for the unborn babies, and those benefits continue for up to six months, Chenault-Salisbury said. “Flu shots have not been shown to cause harm to the mothers or their unborn children. To find the Parkland COPC health center nearest you, visit www.parklandhospital.com/locations

The brother from another planet LAST WORD By Dr. Julianne Malveaux

When neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson started flirting for a Presidential run, I thought he had lost his mind. Now that he has jumped into the fray, opening his mouth one too many times, I know he has. The problem? Too many people disagree with me. He raised $20 million in the last quarter, more than any of his competitors (of course, Donald Trump is self-financing his campaign). For an outsider, he has done extremely well, raising $31 million in just a few months. Why are people supporting him? Many are signaling their disgust with Washington politics by supporting the nerdy neurosurgeon Carson, and caustic former CEO Carly Fiorina. In a recent CNN poll, Trump, Carson, and Fiorina beat more established candidates Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, and Senator Ted Cruz. Those who bring up the rear of the field include Ohio Governor John Kasich, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Senator Rand Paul, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and New Jersey Governor Chris Cristie. During the first Republican debate, I thought I was watching a tenperson episode in a stand-up comedy reality show. The more substantive conversation at the “kiddie table for those who polled lower than “front runners, catapulted Carly Fiorina into the September 16 debate, where she handled the bombastic Donald Trump more forcefully than others. Since that debate Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and former Texas Governor Rick Perry have dropped out of the race. There are others who need to drop out. Given his position in the polls and his now-expanding pocketbook, Ben Carson is not likely to go anywhere. Will we be stuck with the brother from another planet as nominee, and possibly President of the United States? Carson admits that he does not know what he is taking on. When asked how, as President, he would handle the hurricane that threatened the East coast on September 30, he responded, “I don’t know. Many of his other responses to questions mirror those of Donald Trump’s, which boil down to “we’ll figure it out. The voters are expecting Carson or Trump to “straighten out the government, trust because of their reputations, even they have no experience in running a country. How can we trust people who would build walls between the US and Mexico, or who could not accept Muslims in government? How can we trust a prevaricator like Carly Fiorina who uses nonexistent videos as a talking point in her campaign? The brother from another planet may be doing so well in the polls because he is pandering to predominately conservative white audiences with his extreme views. His clear contempt for African Americans who are not in his corner is troubling. He says that the media has “manipulated African Americans. His comments seem to suggest that African Americans do not have minds of our own, and that we are open to manipulation. Why didn’t he say that his white conservative allies are being manipulated by his homophobic, jingoistic comments? Carson has said many of the things conservatives want to hear. He has described marriage as a union between a man and a woman, even as the LGBT

community has waged a successful struggle for marriage equality. He has associated the gay community with “beastialityâ€? and referenced marriage equality advocates with extreme groups like NAMBLA (North American Man/ Boy Love Association), which few support. He says homosexuality is “a choiceâ€? because people go to jail straight and come out gay. Some support him because he is unapologetically “politically incorrectâ€?. But he crosses the line between being politically incorrect and being offensive, inhumane, and bigoted. He would not trust a Muslim to be commander-in-chief. Half a century or so ago, there were fears that Catholic President John F. Kennedy might be unfit for office because of his religion. The quote that catapulted Carson onto the public stage was one he made at the National Prayer Breakfast. He described the Affordable Care Act (often known as Obamacare) as worse than slavery. President Obama was in the audience and Republicans applauded Carson for his audacity in confronting our President to his face. Since Carson had never been a slave (except, clearly, mentally), his comments were absurd. FROM THE CAPITAL By Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson Eddie Bernice Johnson represents the state of Texas’ 30th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.

Often, the fact that the Clean Air Act was signed into law in 1970 after passing Congress by a strong bipartisan vote is forgotten. By enacting this landmark legislation, the federal government took a stand for public health and against air pollution. It was a move that was heralded on both sides of the aisle and applauded by the American people because it put the public’s interests first. In the decades that followed, we saw substantial economic growth while enjoying a cleaner environment. The fight to protect our environment didn’t end in 1970 though. President Obama is continuing this effort with the Clean Power Plan, which aims to transform the way we produce energy. Unfortunately, just as has been the case with the Clean Air Act, the Clean Power Plan is not short on detractors. The same individuals that cried foul and predicted the end of American competitiveness in 1970 are making the exact exaggerated claims today about the Clean Power Plan. This posturing is both ill-advise and without a prudent foundation. I hear from some of my Republican colleagues that if the United States cuts its carbon emissions, it will have no impact on the global temperature or sea level rise. Yet, that is not the reality. Any effort to reduce emissions will have an impact, and through our leadership we can challenge other nations to do the same. As we heard from Chinese President Xi Jinping, China, one of our key competitors, has accepted this challenge and is introducing a cap-and-trade program that will undoubtedly spur innovation and economic growth. I am most pleased with the work the

Environmental Protection Agency is performing. The agency’s top priority is to protect the health of the public and the planet, and I commend them for staying true to their mission in the face of unfounded and hyperbolic criticism. So what are the facts? The Clean Power Plan is projected to save American families nearly $85 on their annual energy bill in 2030. It will grow the solar and wind energy industries and make major advancements in energy efficiency across our economy. Scientists have made it abundantly clear to lawmakers and industry leaders alike that climate change is here and we must work together to deal with it. Without transforming our energy sources or reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, we will not be able to address the looming challenge of climate change. The issue of addressing climate change should not be relegated to partisan bickering on the campaign trail or be restricted to academic discussions. This will affect us all, and we all should be concerned. Leaders in the faith community have also requested that Congress address climate change. When Pope Francis spoke before a recent joint session of Congress, he called for “a courageous and responsible effort to redirect our steps and to avert the most serious effects of the environmental deterioration caused by human activity. The Pope stated, “I am convinced that we can make a difference, and I have no doubt that the United States — and this Congress — have an important role to play.

Is this Black Enough Rupert?

Quit Playin’ Vincent Hall

Vincent L. Hall is an author and award-winning columnist. Keith Rupert Murdoch, or as I call him “RuPaul” Murdoch is either Satan or one of his shepherds. I called him RuPaul because he manufactures “good” journalism dressed in drag. He professes that FOX News is “Fair and Balanced” but we know that they just dress up lies and insist that they are true. Just like most Twits who take to Twitter, RuPaul Murdoch said just enough to feed his red meat masses and piss off the poor politically addicted liberals who don’t know how to ignore the ignorant Far Right. “Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the Racial divide? And much else.” Now y’all were pissed off about the “Real Black.” I got pissed off

because he had the nerve to say anybody could do more for the racial divide than he can. White folks started and sustained American racism, they have to be part of the cure. As the Master of the biggest race plantation in America; FOX News, RuPaul Murdoch can influence more about race than Obama ever could. Approximately 50% of Fox News junkies are over the age of 68. That’s good and bad because that means the other half is less than 68. So not only do we have racism’s old guard, but Fox is harvesting a whole new generation. Murdoch’s sole purpose and most of his wealth is coming from the advertisers who sell billions to this group of xenophobes who reject anything that threatens White

superiority or promotes their fear of a “Black planet.” In the “Rolling Stone Magazine’s scathing article entitled; “Rupert Murdoch is Deviant Scum,” writer Matt Taibbi renders the blistering details of how Fox News has ginned up a new and regal resurgence of racism and racists. “Forget for a minute what Murdoch said. Think about the why. Murdoch’s networks have already spent the last eight years hammering home this message to the whole world. Fox News has constantly presented Barack Obama as a mongrel, a kind of Manchurian President, raised in madrassas and weaned on socialism, who hates white people and yearns to euthanize them. The network spent years exhaustively building and tweaking Obama’s super villain persona, almost always employing this Two-Face theme. The president in Fox lore is superficially a polite, intelligent, “articulate” American

politician who sounds on the level. But in the end, Fox tells us, Obama will always be unable to control the envious, Christianfearing, success-hating African Marxist Terrorist in control of his subconscious. Murdoch’s relentless message has been that Obama isn’t just impure, but overcompensatingly impure. He’s forever accusing the president of designing policies to redistribute white wealth as a means of proving his solidarity.

And when Fox talks about Obama’s race, the caricature is always that he’s a secret street hood straining uncomfortably in politician clothes.

There was the time Eric Bolling talked about him “chugging 40s in IRE while tornadoes ravaged MO.” Or there was the time Brent Bozell compared him to a “skinny, ghetto crackhead,” or the time they called his 50th birthday party a “hip hop barbecue.” Rupert Murdoch, a proud Australian, has spent seven to eight years finding every conceivable way to say that “Barack Obama isn’t one of us.” But the deviant part about RuPaul Murdoch and Fox News is that once they’ve gouged you openly and with glee, they come right back in feigned sincerity with utterances of apology and regret. “About 11 hours later, Murdoch tweeted an apology: “Apologies! No offence meant. Personally find both men charming.” Kiss my ass RuPaul Murdoch and if this President acted as “Black as Black folk wished he would,” he would invite you to kiss the south bound of his northbound mule. Apologies to the “Real” RuPaul, but the metaphor was too tempting.

How to Reform the Criminal Justice System There is no question that the criminal justice system is broken. President Obama made that clear recently in his address to the annual convention of the NAACP in Philadelphia. “The United States is home to 5 percent of the world’s population, but 25 percent of the world’s prisoners,” he said. “Think about that. Our incarceration rate is four times higher than China’s. We keep more

people behind bars than the top 35 European countries combined. “And it hasn’t always been the case – this huge explosion in incarceration rates. In 1980, there were 500,000 people behind bars in America – half a million people in 1980… Today there are 2.2 million. It has quadrupled since 1980. Our prison population has doubled in the last two decades alone.” On his visit to El Reno Federal Correctional Institution in Oklahoma, Obama said: “A primary driver of this mass incarceration phenomenon is our drug laws – our mandatory minimum sentencing around drug laws. And we have to consider whether

this is the smartest way for us to both control crime and rehabilitate individuals.” He added, “…When we’re looking at nonviolent offenders, most of them growing up in environments in which the drug traffic is common, where many of their family members may have been involved in the drug trade, we have to reconsider whether 20year, 30-year, life sentences for nonviolent crimes is the best way for us to solve these problems.” Of the 2.2 million people behind bars in 2012, nearly 1.5 million were in state and federal prisons and 744,500 were in local jails. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 38 percent of federal and state prisoners were Black, 35 percent were White and 21 percent were Latino. How do we reform the criminal justice system? The Sentencing Project, a Washingtonbased organization that works for sentencing reform, offering alternatives to incarceration and ending racial disparities, said a number of things can be done to end or reduce mass incarceration. In its publication titled, “Ending Mass Incarceration: Social Interventions that Work,” the Sentencing Project stated. “Preschool education for at-risk three and four year olds is also an effective prevention strategy…Head Start and other preschool programs produce both short-term and long-term benefits. This includes reduced engagement with the criminal justice system through the age of 27, along with positive

school outcomes and reduced need for social services.” On juvenile justice, the report said, “Research shows that programs prioritizing family interactions are the most successful, probably because they focus on providing skills to the adults who are in the best position to impact the child’s behavior.” The community also has a vital role to play. “Studies have shown that organizational participation and informal social control mechanisms can address criminal violence at the neighborhood level,” the report said. “Community participation can help in supervising and monitoring teenage peer groups through social networks that facilitate adult and youth interaction.” In a July 14 letter to Rep. Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the ranking member of the committee, a coalition of 60 organizations – including the Sentencing Project, Blacks in Law Enforcement of America, Families Against Mandatory Minimums, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the National Council of Churches, the NAACP, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers – called for broad-based criminal justice reform. “In its 2011 report to Congress, the U.S. Sentencing Commission found that mandatory minimum sentences disproportionately impact communities of

color and that African Americans received relief from mandatory minimum sentences least often, compared with Whites and Hispanics,” the letter noted. The organizations urged Congress to support reform that: Changes current federal law that allows a person with two prior felony convictions to have a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence converted to a mandatory life sentence; Allows past criminal records to be sealed and removes the lifetime ban on persons convicted of drug felonies to receive federal benefits such as welfare and food stamps; Makes sentencing reductions passed in 2010 retroactive; Expands the Bureau of Prisons’ Compassionate Release Program and Expands time credited for good behavior. “We note the importance of supporting initiatives that aim to assist in effective recidivism reduction and re-entry programming as well as provide opportunities for early release for individuals in federal prison,” the groups said. “Ninetyfive percent of incarcerated individuals will return to our communities, and in the interest of public safety, we must ensure that they are on a path for successful reintegration back into society while in prison and upon their release. It is a smart investment to implement expanded re-entry programming, given that evidence-based programs, job-training, and education can reduce recidivism and lead to better outcomes for individuals returning to their families and neighborhoods.”

DAYES: Ask Pam about healthcare Q I’ve been on Medicaid for several months and drawing SSI from Social Security Administration (SSA). I’ll be turning age 62 next month, I was informed by SSA that my SSI would go away because I’ll start drawing a Social Security Retirement check. Since my retirement income will be significantly greater than the SSI I’ll no longer be eligible for Medicaid assistance. I’m concerned about keeping some medical assistance so my question is will I get Medicare too when I turn 62 next month? A - That depends; people are eligible to enroll in Medicare prior to age 65 only if they’re on Social Security Disability and have met the 24-month waiting period, or have a special condition. Check with the Social Security Administration to see when you will be eligible for Medicare. If you find that you’re not eligible for Medicare yet, then you can always visit yourtexasbenefits.com or call 2-1-1, that’s if you live in Texas, to find what medical resources are available in your area. Ex-Wife Taking Up Too Much Time Ask Alma

Alma Gill’s newsroom experience spans over 25 years, including various roles at USA Today, Newsday and the Washington Post. Email questions to: alwaysaskalma@ yahoo.com. Follow her on Facebook at “Ask Alma” and twitter @almaaskalma.

Dear Alma, My husband was married very young, from the age of 20-22. The marriage was a disaster and they divorced without having a conversation or even seeing each other in court. He didn’t contest it or show up to the court date. She recently found him on Facebook and asked if she could give him a call. When he came and asked me about it, I said it would be ok. My husband and I are very close; we have successful adult children, and a lovely grandchild. We are very active in our church. I said yes, because we’ve had a wonderful life, a happy and loving 25 years of marriage. I was ok with it at first, but lately they’ve been having long conversations on the phone and what I thought was going to be a one or two time thing, is still going on. He talks to her while I’m in the room. They seem to have a really good friendship building. My patience has run thin. I recently told him the conversations need to stop and he said no. She’s not married, lives in another state, and has cancer. He says he wants to be there for her, but I don’t think that’s his place. I trust my husband but I don’t trust her. I think she is lonely and just reminiscing about my husband. I know I opened this can of worms but what do I do to put the lid back on. Should I threaten to leave and give him an ultimatum? D.T. Tampa, Fla. TBT Tampa, It would never sit well with me to tell someone to leave a marriage of 25 years. What may be a deal breaker for one, might not be for another. What I will say is, you are not the number one woman in your husband’s heart – right now. I know, I know, that’s a handful of hurt to hold, but honesty is what you get while sitting in the Ask Alma Café, and you my dear took a seat. First and foremost, don’t ever offer an ultimatum, or you may find yourself unaccompanied. Giving an ultimatum to your partner is like offering a cold glass of pride and arrogance. The offer of “my way or the highway” doesn’t give the other person a reasonable choice or viable option. You have one of two decisions to make. You can turn the other cheek and wait for this circus to pass through town, (‘cause we both know it will), or you can start to do what’s needed to regain your number one “I’m every woman-wife #1” status. The choice is up to you. Since your husband was honest enough to bring this to your attention and ask

for permission, I don’t think these long talks are a threat to your marriage. As you mentioned, she’s in one state and you guys live in another. When one takes the time to finalize, wrap up life lessons and loose ends over the years, it can be cathartic. I think he’s trying to extend a more compassionate side of himself because she’s ill. Don’t fault him for that. Deal with him based on what he actually does, not what you’ve imagined him doing. Mark my words, the rambles of reminiscing will begin to roll away, because at some point one of them will remember why they divorced in the first place. I anticipate that will be your husband. If you had asked me this question 20 years ago, I would have told you to tell him to get to steppin’ but I know better now. Twenty-five years is a long time and as his wife, you’ve gotta dig in deep, do a better job of weathering this storm. Since it’s the first real tsunami in your relationship, lay down some rules but don’t grab your umbrella and run. Tell him what’s on your mind, tell him how this situation makes you feel and ride it out. I’ve got a good feeling about your husband and I think he’ll revert with a sack of sorrys before you know it. Be prayerful, exercise your patience and rely on your faith. You’ve invested 25 years of your life to this man and your family. Play to win in this game called marriage, and remember you’ve got a 25year home field advantage! Alm

and CEO of the NNPA, emceed the event. Roland Martin was recognized for his work in broadcast media and dedication to Black news, and was the first honoree of the night to address the audience. “For folks who don’t know, I’ve actually run three Black papers. I’ve always made it clear that the first dollar I earned in media was from a Black newspaper. My first television dollar was from a company that was Black-owned,” he said. “When I’m sitting in the White House with the president, I’m sitting representing Black media, not mainstream media. I have never allowed White media to validate my skill set.” Each of the honorees thanked the NNPA for its support and its dedication to Black Press leadership honorees (L-R) Rep. Donna F. Because at the end of the day, the power of words is the power of life and death, and that is the power of the Black Press.” A. Shuanise Washington, president and CEO of the CBCF Inc., and Misty Copeland were unable to attend the reception. CBCF vice president of communications and marketing, Shrita Sterlin-Hernandez accepted the award on Washington’s behalf, and Copeland sent her gratitude via video. Thank you for making sure the whole story continues to be told in our communities.”

Friends! Got Any Real Ones? Spiritually Speaking by James A. Washington Some of you are aware that I have a book coming out which is a compilation of many of these columns. I came across this one and it still has quite an impact on me. Hopefully, it will again for you. This is an effort to get you to define who your friends really are. Who is it that you can absolutely depend on? I am one of those people who believe that you can determine this more in difficult circumstances than in situations where life is good and things are going well. The bible is full of chapters and verse about friendship even unto death, if you can believe that. John 15:13. According to the bible friends love each other, do not forsake each other, and more than anything a friend can be trusted. Even when a friend criticizes you, he or she is doing so to help, protect, build you up and yes correct you when they and you know you are dead wrong. “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” Proverbs 27:6. My point about identifying and relating to true friends is pretty much a very basic concept. It just happens to be spiritually based. When all hell is breaking loose in your life, will your friend(s) pray with you? Pray for you? Will your friend(s) suggest maybe you ought to have a talk with the Lord? Will he or she let you know where the answer lies for whatever ails you? Shame? Addiction? Greed? Pride? Promiscuity? Whatever? By example, Job’s friend knew where he should turn. “But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before Him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted…” Job 5: 8-9. Now whatever you think about the motives of Job’s friends, you got to give them credit for knowing where to seek help. All I’m asking you is which one of your so called friends will point you in the right direction? I pray you have several, although one will surely do. I can’t help but be reminded

SPIRITUALITY

of Christ and the paralytic. Mark 2. Jesus Heals the Paralytic. I’m just moved to point out verse 5. “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven.” This is mind boggling to me. Jesus healed somebody because his friends had faith. Can you believe that? The folk you hang out with may not be the folk who have faith in you. But the people who have faith, the ones who will take you and your problems to the Lord, are the ones He listens to; often times on your behalf. Now I do not know about you but, these are the kind of friends I need. I also believe I have a couple in my life and I am very thankful for them. My question to you is can you identify those in yours. If you cannot, then understand you are the reason for this particular column. No one should go through life without a friend who will pray for you if not with you and let you know, that’s what you should be doing also. Mark 2 just lets us know that God pays attention to such things and values such friends. Their love for you acknowledges their faith in Him and I think He welcomes them for their faith and you for bringing it out in them. Now that’s something to shout about I think. But remember, if you do not have anyone in your life that fits this friend criterion, May God bless and keep you always.

for he taught the biblical principles of God. Dwaine remained very involved in the Christian ministry as he raised his children to be strong willed-free thinkers, appreciating their African heritage. As a part of this enlightenment, Dwaine became a committed member of the Junior Players After School Program called Discover Africa - where he provided African Cultural Arts teachings to the children in the community. In the 1990s, Dwaine welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Dwala, whom Dwaine cherished. As Dwaine continued his African Heritage Journey, The Ayubu Kamau Sacred Drum and Dance Society had the accidental privilege of drumming on stage at the Million Man March Rally, at Howard University in Washington DC. Shortly after this exciting experience. Dwaine and ten friends founded a group called the Egbe Egunjobi Society (meaning their ancestors birthed us all) in 1995. This society came together to uplift and venerate our African ancestors. In August of 1996, this group traveled to Abeokuta, Nigeria where there were initiated into the Yoruba tradition to elevate of the God and ancestors. While in Nigeria he received the name Esudele Ifatosin Fagbenro. Esudele, meaning Esu comes home, was given to him because no one would ever suspect that he was not a native Nigerian (he appeared to be home) and Fagbenro - being the family name given to him by the Oluwo, or high priest in Ibara, Abeokuta. This group and this experience was Esudele's foundation into his African sensuality. As a result of his love and respect for his culture, in 1997 he founded the Act of Change Saturday School and the Rites of Passage for Boys in Oak Cliff, Texas. The Act of Change was always available to the community for forums, meetings, theater practice and performances of all kinds. Esudele was adamant in his quest for knowledge of self, as well as having others learn about their true history by providing a venue for lecturers, historians, and educators to speak on the African Diaspora. Dwaine earned a key to the city of Corpus Christi, Texas as a token of appreciation for his many accolades in the community and numerous other awards from various organizations across the globe. In 2001 Wayne married Bonnie Riley, and became the loving father of two boys - Zion and Billy. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his children, his only grandson, Dominic Thompson, whom he called "Atu" - meaning this one is brilliant and a host of family members, friends, community loved ones, and the Act of Change organizations.

In order to avoid misunderstandings, some advertisers do not offer employment but rather supply the readers with manuals, directories and other materials designed to help their clients establish mail order selling and other businesses at home.
