HALL: We got 99 Problems!!! Quit Playin’

by Vincent L. Hall

"I celebrated with some alcohol when Zimmerman was found not guilty and I celebrate every time one of these mongoloids are shot by cops. There are a lot more of us Americans than there are people in BLM. Designate them a terror group and wipe them off the planet over night.” – Reader comment of Breitbart News relative to the Black Lives Matter movement. Donald Trump’s new CEO Stephen Bannon is a slash and burn artisan whose political knowledge is neither exceptional nor intriguing. No, Bannon just has a penchant for grabbing the headlines that feed America’s belligerent underbelly. Before his promotion to Trump’s “Neo-Russian “Third Reich”, Bannon served as the mastermind of Breitbart News which incidentally, has hubs in California, London, Jerusalem and Texas.

Very succinctly, Breitbart is an online yellow journalism peddler that arrived in 2007 as Barack Obama was being taken seriously as a presidential candidate. Breitbart is a thinly veiled communications epicenter for White Supremacists who hate Jews, immigrants, and the LGBT. Google what Breitbart did to ACORN. Or Google the Alt-Right and how Breitbart loathes the non-Tea Party wing of the GOP. Breitbart.com is a form of AP or Reuter’s wire source for White Nationalism. Breitbart.com didn’t invent racism; they just make racism better. My grandmother taught by

ald Trump. But in my mind, the cultural whiplash from “Trumpism” will be akin in size and scale to those historic moments before the Civil War and the hate-filled murder of Abraham Lincoln. We are at or near the racial and political pitch that Texas, and particularly Dallas was in right before JFK was silenced. We are at the teeming temperature of hatred and hubris that was sweltering in 1968 when MLK and RFK each met their political detractors and their personal demise. Trumpism is not amusing! Every scribe dabbles in hyperbole, but my belief is

euphemism. She would oft that Trumpism will be a stasay that problem people “bear ple of American politics for watching.” Trump and every the next decade. McCarthycrater in his blighted universe ism and Goldwater Consermust be carefully scrutinized. vatism ain’t got nuthin’on The people who have trained “The Donald.” In victory or a keen eye on clannish activ- in defeat, Trump’s ilk of inity since 1971, the Southern solence, intolerance, insurrecpoverty Law Center, monitors tion and willful ignorance will Bannon and Breitbart and are not evaporate. This persistent leery of Breitbart’s racially pricking on the tender scab of America's greatest sore tinged content. Here’s my preemptive ad- (racism) is going to be open mission. comment was sensationalism, so here’s another off the same Breitbart wire. ResistandRebel: “It is hilarious how butthurt the feral negro’s are about a few dead mongrels! It is even more hilarious how butthurt they are all the time, even with affirmative action, all the free shlt, and their own separate everything! LOL! I guess I would be too if my family tree was made up of a bunch of mongrel, spear chucking monkey losers!” Bannon is the mastermind who runs Breitbart and is the handpicked media hound for Trump? So when Donald Trump asked African-Americans; “What do you have to lose?” this is the reference point that he speaks from? Donald Trump sees “The Blacks” through the prism of his most favorable press and advocates at Breitbart. com, dailystormer. com and drudgereport.com. and of course, Fox Noose! Thanks for your overtures Mr. Trump. That invite was, as grandmother would say; “Mighty White of you.” You skipped the NAACP, the NABJ and Black Milwaukeeans, but an afterthought is better than none at all. It’s obvious that African Americans have some issues to overcome. But in the spirit of Jay Z; We got 99 problems, but falling for your Sh!t ain’t one!

DA’s resignation comes at wrong time! From Metro News Staff Reports

Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk, after months of speculation, resigned from office this week. The resignation of Hawk will give Texas Governor Greg Abbott an opportunity to appoint a Republican to a seat that Democrats say they intend to recapture in the 2018 election. While wishing Hawk well as she deals with recurring health issues, leading political officials such as State Senator Royce West said

that he was “disheartened” that Hawk had not offered to resign earlier, allowing Dallas County voters, rather than the governor, to select her successor. Senator West said that it would have been best if Hawk, who was elected with bi-partisan support, would have placed the decision in the hands of voters rather than the state’s chief executive. The first Republican elected to a countywide office since 2004, Hawk has battled mental health issues since being elected in 2014, defeating the first African

American to DA, Craig Watkins. Although several months ago she met with journalists and candidly talked about her mental health issues and her desire to get back to work, following treatment, in her resignation letter she said, “.....my health needs my undivided attention. More than my words could express, I appreciate the grace l’ve been shown as I’ve tried to balance my health and my duties. This has been a very difficult decision for me.”

Riding high, Dallas Police Chief steps down steps down From Metro News Staff Reports

To say the past year has been challenging for Dallas Police Chief David Brown would be an understatement. While crunching numbers, and making some tough decisions regarding staff, the Dallas native met his critics head-on while also receiving support from several community-based groups that praised his leadership. Remaining calm under pressure is something the 33-year veteran is known for and that’s just what he did when faced with an assault by what was eventually described as a lone shooter on a mission to kill police officers. The shooter, 25-year-old Micah Johnson would end his spree, but only after killing five officers, one from Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and injuring 10 other officers and one civilian. Chief Brown received praise from Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, law enforcement officials from across the country , and President Barack Obama, who attended a memorial service in Dallas for the slain officers. There were mixed emotions when the Chief announced that he was resigning. On social media, some questioned whether or

Chief David Brown

not he was being forced out, while others praised him and speculated that he was leaving on a high

note and under his own terms. A 33-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, as Chief of Police, he commands a department comprised of over 4,000 employees and oversees an annual operating budget of 426 million dollars. Chief Brown holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master’s (MBA) in Business Administration. Chief Brown is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy, FBI National Executive Institute, Senior Man-

agement Institute for Police, the National Counter-Terrorism Seminar in Tel Aviv, Israel and the United States Secret Service Dignitary Protection Seminar in Washington, D.C. Chief Brown also holds Master Peace Officer and Police Instructor certifications from the State of Texas. Chief Brown said he would be holding a press conference to discuss his decision to leave the department in October, 2016.

High School in Fort Worth ISD. Following her first year of teaching, Mae Cora was asked to become the first Dean of Girls (later called Vice Principal) at Dunbar. She counseled, mentored, and guided male and female students at Dunbar for 27 years before retiring in 1980. Still, that was not the end of her service to her community. Mae Cora and two other former dean of girls, Hazel Harvey Peace, and Robinette Spates, served as the Scholarship committee for the Greater Fort Worth Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years, selecting recipients for their annual scholarship. She promptly joined the FWISD Retired School Employees, where she served as publicity chair, and worked on its scholarship committee. She also became active in her husband’s retiree organization –the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees, where she was made an honorary member, serving as treasurer. Her activism in AARP addressing hunger, led to her appointment to the Board of Directors of Senior Citizens Services of Greater

Tarrant County. She is a staunch advocate for the programs that support seniors in Tarrant County and became a member of Senior Citizens’ leadership group, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), training seniors to take active roles in community affairs. Her consistent involvement with Senior Citizens Services resulted in one of their Senior Spirit Awards being named in her honor. Now in its fourth year, The Mae Cora Peterson Healthy Aging Award is given annually to an entity that has provided services to sus-

tain the health of seniors. She was a long time member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she played the piano for Sunday morning devotion, and taught a Sunday School class. After moving her membership to Broadway Baptist Church, she became a regular in the Baptist Center, working in its May Street Market where families come to “shop” for food. She loves helping them make their selections of groceries that are given by the church. Mae Cora’s dedication to education and support of her community has resulted in her being recognized by a number of organizations. She has been named a Dr. Marion Brooks Living Legend in education, a Phenomenal Woman in Education by the Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta, has been awarded The Sojourner Truth Award, the highest national award given by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, and most recently received the Founded on Faith Award as an educator by Tarrant Churches Together.

“#Blaxit: One God. One Aim. One Destiny.” by Chris Herrod In 2016, police brutality and injustice in America has caused some to call for a #Blaxit: “a mass exodus of Black people.” In 1920, faced with the very same issues of discontent, punctuated by East St. Louis’s bloody race riots in 1917 and the nationwide racial terror campaigns of 1919’s Red Summer, Marcus Garvey started a global movement with the intent of doing just that. Commemorating the birth of the Black Power Movement, “#Blaxit: One God. One Aim. One Destiny.” places Garvey’s 96 year old but still very relevant message of self-preservation, self-sufficiency and Pan African independence in a contemporary context - designed to spur discussion, planning, and action. Dear Alma,

Dear Lost My Running Buddy,

A couple of months ago a real friendly woman moved into the condo across the hall. She and I hit it off right away. We went shopping and to lunch together. We even went to a music concert and had a real fun time, or so I thought. All of a sudden, she just stopped calling, texting, visiting and really just being my friend. I don’t know what happen. We still speak. She’ll give me a big wave across the parking lot or when I see her in the hall, she seems generally glad to see me, but we just don’t hang out anymore. I’m not sure what happened. I really like her and I want to be her friend. What do you think I should do to get her to talk to me and hang out again?

Well, hmmm Sugar Plum, did you do something to piss her off or hurt her feelings? Could you possibly have said something that was a bit harsh? Maybe you gave your opinion on a particular subject that didn’t sit well with her. Or, could it be, she just don’t like you? Have you ever started a new friendship and partway down the loop you think, “you know what, I don’t really like this person all that much?” Usually it takes a run around the romper room to learn the true personality of a person. Most folks start out sane and with good intentions, spoon feeding you what’s whole and wholesome about them. They seem to be on the up and up, until, Lord have mercy, six months later, here she comes outta nowhere, drowning in red wine, Missy Super Rachet. You’re totally blindsided like when you in-

nocently pick up a hitchhiker who has an ax, or a hatchet, LOL, I couldn’t resist. This woman could be Lucy Looneybird relocating from Louisiana, you don’t know. Anyhow, let it go. Evidently, ya’ll ain’t got the same flow! You can’t make somebody like you nor should you try. If she decided you were not someone she’d like to add to her friends list, so be it, trust her judgment. She knows herself better than you and she’s had time to peep your hold card. Trust me when I say you’re all the better for it. It’s best to find out up front who’s not friend material, than to waste time cooking in a frying pan of foolishness. Great friendships that are worthwhile grow like a beautiful wisteria vine, you couldn’t stop it if you tried, nor would you want to.
