Scouts are the third section of the Scouting movement aged between 10½ to 14½ years old. From the first camp in 1907, the movement now has an estimated 28 million members worldwide, and in the UK there are over 499,000 boys and girls involved in Scouting. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes. Being outdoors is important and a lot of the Programme is given over to taking part in the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities. Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life. Scouts meet on Fridays between 7:00pm and 9:00pm

st Ebbw Vale (Penuel) Scout Group
may be familiar to you we’ve been around since 1910 after all!
Imagine how many hundreds of children have been a member of our historic Scout Group in that time - and we’re still going strong! We’re still running activities that give the children of Ebbw Vale and the surrounding communities a brilliant head-start in life! Scouting today is just as full of adventure and excitement as it has always been. It’s about doing great things, loving and enjoying the great adventures and helping others to do the same. Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It’s a safe place where they can aspire and grow. So much of who we are as an adult is formed when we are kids, and what Scouting says to people is: “it’s okay to go for it in life”. Life is about grabbing opportunities. The prizes don’t always go to the biggest, the best and the strongest – they go to those who persevere. These are simple life lessons that Scouting teaches. It’s all about friendship and fun and adventure, often for people who might not normally have the chance. Scouts are shining lights in their communities.
More young people do adventurous activities as part of the Scouting movement than with any other organisation. Scouting offers challenge and adventure to nealy half a million young people across the UK - and it all starts with the Beavers Section! Members of Beaver Groups are usually aged 6 to 7¾ years old, but can join in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. Their activities are based around making things, outdoor activities, singing, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, listening to stories, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends. Our Beaver Colony meets every Wednesday from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Cubs is the second section of the Scouting movement, originally started in 1916 for younger brothers of existing Scouts who wanted a ‘look-in’. In nearly a century, the section has evolved and adapted its programme and methods to meet the changing needs of each generation of young people. There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like music, exploring, computing and collecting. Cubs also go camping with the rest of the Group. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities. Cub Scouts are aged 8 to 10½ years old. 1st Ebbw Vale (Penuel) Scout Group has 2 Cub Scout sections A-Pack Cubs meet on Mondays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. B-pack Cubs meet on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.
