Sports - Youth

YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES

The City of Peoria Youth Sports offers a variety of league offerings throughout the year . All of our leagues are non-competitive recreational leagues that promote inclusion, teamwork and FUN! Game scores are not retained and league standings are not kept . The emphasis of our leagues is to learn the basics of a sport and grow a life-long love of athletics while learning life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship .

Volunteer Coaches

• All coaches are volunteers. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and complete the following: • Submit Online Coaching Application • Complete Online Background Check • Be Finger Printed

Coed And Gender Specific Leagues

• All leagues 8 and younger will be COED • All leagues 9 and older will be GENDER SPECIFIC

Uniforms

• Uniforms are included in the league registration fee.

Depending on the sport, the uniform varies; however all participants will receive at minimum a game jersey to keep after the season is complete .

Practices & Games

• All practices and games are in Peoria, AZ at various parks and Peoria Unified School District schools. • One practice venue provided per week for one-hour in length • A total of seven practices will be scheduled for each team per season • Practice equipment provided to all teams • Fall and Spring Sports • Practices held Mon-Thur (1 day per week based on volunteer availability) • Games on Saturdays • Summer Sports • Basketball practices on Monday’s / Games on Wednesday’s • Volleyball practices on Tuesday’s / Games on Thursday’s • Each team will be scheduled a maximum of six (6) games per season .

Post-Season Awards

• All participants will receive a post-season award • Ages 8 and younger will receive a participation trophy • Ages 9 and older will receive a season memento

Weekly Sportsmanship Award

• We have created the C.A.C.T.U.S. Award to celebrate and honor participants that embody sportsmanship each game . • C.A.C.T.U.S. = Coachable Athlete, Compassionate
