A PLACE OF FAITH

Your Spiritual Journey Continues Here

Find Yourself Here

Christian values, rooted in a Church of Christ heritage, are at the heart of each academic pursuit and spiritual journey at Pepperdine.

Respect for All Faiths

Students, faculty, and staff members of all faith traditions are welcome to become part of the Pepperdine University community. God’s truth as revealed in both the observable and invisible worlds is universal and nonnegotiable, and an individual’s pursuit of that truth is respected and honored.

Grow Your Faith With Others

Pepperdine actively seeks out and creates ways for you to examine, challenge, and grow in your faith.

More Than a Traditional Chapel Program

Pepperdine’s Chapel program creates gatherings for first- and second-year students to feel welcomed into the community and explore their faith through the themes of love, truth, goodness, and beauty. This required programming provides a model of vibrant faith practice for students as they become leaders in the world.

Spiritual Guidance Each Step of the Way

Spiritual life advisors are peer-ministers that live in the on-campus residence halls with first-year and secondyear students, acting as spiritual leaders and caring for residents’ emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Where Faith and Learning Meet

As a Christian university, faith and learning are integrated into the classroom experience through the general education curriculum of Seaver College. As a student, you will participate in a three-course series called Christianity and Culture, in which you will learn about the Old and New Testaments from a historical perspective, followed by a self-selected Christian topical course.

The Hub for Spiritual Life

Pepperdine’s commitment to integrating faith into every aspect of education has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of my purpose and how it aligns with God’s plan for me. Through chapel services, spiritual retreats, and engaging conversations with professors and peers, I have gained a broader perspective on the world and my role in it. These experiences have challenged me to think critically, to seek wisdom, and to live a life of purpose and service.

Affiliation with Churches of Christ

Pepperdine keeps a vital affiliation with Churches of Christ, of which its founder, George Pepperdine, was an elder and lifelong member. That affiliation is maintained today through policy and government; through regular recruitment of students, faculty, and staff from within Church of Christ fellowships; and through the office and activities of Church Relations.

Scholarship Opportunities

Pepperdine University is committed to providing churchrelated scholarship assistance to students from the Church of Christ tradition, and it offers two Christian scholarship opportunities for applicants that demonstrate active participation in their home Church of Christ congregation. Church of Christ students also receive priority consideration for need-based financial assistance.
