VJMC QR Code
from VJMC #156
MOST OF US ONLY SAW QR (QUICK RESPONSE) CODES ON REAL ESTATE ADVERTISING PRIOR TO COVID-19. THEN AS THE PANDEMIC QR CODES WERE USED TO CHECK IN AT CAFES, SHOPS AND EVEN PUBLIC TOILETS. THEY ARE CURRENTLY PART OF OUR DAILY LIVES.
What is a QR Code?

A QR Code is similar to a bar code used on retail items. However, as well as data (eg. part number and price), a QR Code contains an instruction on how to use the data. For example, in the case of a COVID-19 Check-in app (application software), the QR Code starts the Check-in app and sends the date, time and location with your identity to a government site.
What will the VJMC QR Code do?
Scanning the VJMC QR Code will tell a smart phone to open our club website www.vjmc.org.au in the internet browser already installed on the device. That’s it. For potential members, it means direct access to information on membership, history, club rego, Area Reps, other club contacts, merchandise, local meetings, events, National Rallies and links to VJMC social media pages.
How can the VJMC Australia use this QR Code?
Some suggestions are to include it: a) in our advertising in Old Bike and other publications b) on our pull up and cloth banners c) on our business cards and fliers d) on National Rally advertising, promotional articles and fliers e) on the Contacts page of our club magazine.
What does the QR Code mean to existing members?
Not much other than to know your club is using another tool to promote itself to potential members.
Why did the VJMC Australia go for this QR Code?
Best practice recommendations are to (i) keep the information in the QR Code short and simple and (ii) have just one for the organisation (ie. having one for membership, another for merchandise, etc would be confusing). It would be reasonable to have another QR Code for National Rally information and that could be investigated.
So that’s it in a nutshell. Now you know what it is and what it does. There is no ulterior motive. Feel free to give it a try.
