Kurland Homestead with its striking wide verandah stands poolside, along with a crescent of suites on either side of it. Views from the grandstand verandah are of lapping water, greens and horses, forest and moody mountains – in that order. It’s so beautiful and refreshing, you can sit there all day and watch the world – and the horses – go by. Inside, the Homestead is calm and comfortable. There’s a dream kitchen for cooks and caterers, a spa and gym, and playrooms for children – who also have a dedicated outdoor swimming pool. In winter the roaring fire beckons you to move closer, curl up and bask; summers around the pool are as relaxed as you can get. If you have energetic genes you can appease them by going horse riding, mountain biking, cycling, canoeing, walking or hiking. And there will be something new to do every day you are there.
