WATERS GAME RESERVE MIDLANDS, KWAZULU-NATAL

A celebration of wildlife...

Set in the foothills of the Drakensberg mountain range in KwaZulu-Natal, Zulu Waters Game Reserve is a celebration of wildlife through a unique and sustainable nature experience. Zulu Waters is recognised for environmental conservation, through its sustainable efforts implemented throughout the reserve and offers plenty of activities for those looking to explore nature. The game reserve is secure and well stocked, with breeding herds of protected game, in a malaria free area. Located in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, just two hours’ drive from Durban and four hours from Johannesburg, it is accessible via road or air. Charter flights can be arranged from OR Tambo (Johannesburg) or King Shaka (Durban) direct to the private air strip. There are several options of high-end accommodation in 3 beautiful, private lodges viz. Shaka Lodge Nandi House and The Lake Cottage.

Activities include game viewing and fishing for wild trout in the 15km stretch of the Bushman’s River. Hot ballooning and guided walks to view the original rock art of the ancient Khoisan people in the nearby caves are just some of the activities found on the reserve.

The reserve provides potential buyers the unique opportunity to acquire one of the largest farms in this popular area, with 45km of electric fencing enclosing the reserve. The reserve also has its own abattoir that produces branded venison, and to date there have been no land claims on the property.

Over the years, viable populations of animals have been reintroduced to the reserve. Protected species in the reserve include Zebra, Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Ostrich, Impala, Springbok, Rhino, Oribi, Waterbuck, Kudu, Eland, Steenbok, Blesbok and Buffalo.

The reserve also has a strong sense of social responsibility and involves the local community in various ways. The Dalton Education Trust, a Zulu Waters initiative, was born in 2008, with a focus on Early Childhood Development in the surrounding communities.
