JRC ECDIS type specific training by Brommeland Elektronikk AS Course Description The course has been designed by JRC for candidates who have completed ECDIS generic training and now require equipment specific training. It has been designed for officers in charge of a navigational watch and for experienced nautical officers and other persons with navigational responsibilities. Teaching Methods The course is split between presentations to familiarise the trainee with the menu structure and practical exercises on the actual ECDIS equipment to cement understanding.
Prerequisites Those attending the course should have conducted a generic 3 day IMO 1.27 ECDIS course. They should have experience in performing chartwork and should be able to practice all usual tasks concerning standard navigational procedures and equipment. They should know about the functions and limitations of other navigational equipment. We require the trainee to have the basic navigation knowledge and that they understand what a navigation watch entails. Class Limitations The maximum class size varies depending on the number of terminals available, but there will never be more than 6 students per instructor or more than one persons per ECDIS terminal.
Onboard training We also offer onboard training There will never be more than 6 students per instructor or more than two persons per ECDIS terminal. We can supply extra terminals onboard.
Brommeland Elektronikk AS Our personel is trained by JRC and approved for Type specific training on JRC Ecdis. We are a flexible company. Courses are held on a regular basis but we also do individual courses on short notice / request. Course time Course time is normal 7h + exam with a class of 6 students.

ECDIS, A.817(19) b. AIS, A.917(22) 2. Knowledge and capacity of ECDIS operations, including a. Understanding of ENC and AIS data b. Danger of over-reliance, system errors and limitations c. Knowledge of ECDIS and AIS functions 3. Proficiency in operations, interpretation, and analysis of information obtained from ECDIS and AIS a. Use of functions integrated with other navigation systems b. Safe monitoring and adjustment of information, including information from AIS
