CMS Aims At Standardizing Medicaid And CHIP Quality Reporting To Promote Health Equity With the idea of improving Medicaid and CHIP quality reporting, CMS released a new rule. CMS affirms the rule as a requirement to optimize quality measures and health equity among the masses. The proposed rulemaking is crucial for improving quality reporting in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). With the effect of this rule, it will become possible to identify gaps and health disparities among millions of beneficiaries registered in these programs.

Under this rule, the state must ensure reporting of three sets of different quality measures:  Set of quality measures that apply to Medicaid and CHIP with the focus on healthcare quality for children  Core quality measure sets for adult behavioral health.  Health home core sets for improving quality of care delivered to Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries To ensure high-quality care, these Core Sets are developed to help measure the overall national quality of care for enrollees, state performance monitoring and raise the standard of healthcare provision. The core quality measure sets proposed by CMS for children, adults, and health home services are keystones to promoting healthcare equity and eliminating gaps and disparities faced by the beneficiaries.

CMS will utilize every possible lever to ensure high-quality care for everyone with Medicaid and CHIP insurance. It is a mandatory requirement for the state to report core sets of quality metrics so that the healthcare policies are backed by the data representing all the beneficiaries. When providing high-quality care to the beneficiaries, a quality reporting program plays a vital role in evaluating processes, findings, patient perceptions, and even organizational structures that upgrade the healthcare standard. The Spectrum of Core Sets covers a range of measures crucial to determining how well Medicaid and CHIP adhere to their goals of furnishing low-income people, including children and families, with affordable, high-quality, and individual-centered health coverage. The Core Sets will assess the extent to which Medicaid and CHIP coverage successfully fulfills individual and community needs. It will also focus on the health disparities that exist and how they can bring improvement in the standard of care. Collaboration of Medicaid and CHIP with states can ensure that all children have full access to a significant amount of mental healthcare and support they need to stay fit and healthy.
