For the majority of courses with electronic course materials, we have now added new functionality. In addition to links to the PDF documents, there are now additional links to an in­browser HTML viewer for electronic textbook pages. The in­browser HTML viewer displays the electronic textbook one page at a time, converting each page into an image. This is just another option for students to be able to use electronic textbooks over a slower connection, or where there is restricted access to Adobe Reader. For example: Chapter 1: The Great Gaffer (1.3 MB, pp 3­21) PDF | HTML Features comparison: Necessary Plug­ins Simple HTML link: No additional plug­ins required. HTML link will work with all supported browsers. To view a chapter one page at a time while online, you can simply click the "html" link next to the chapter name. This option does not require any special plug­ins, but it does lack any advanced functionality such as printing or offline viewing. In order to use the html view feature, you need an active connection to the internet. Access Simple HTML link: Simply click on the desired chapter link type (HTML or PDF). If you select the HTML link, you can view the chapter one page at a time with practically no wait time even on a slow connection. Limitations of the HTML link viewer The HTML link viewer has no print functionality, nor is there the ability to copy/paste. Because the chapters are not downloaded when viewed with the html link, access requires a live internet connection. The pages viewed via the html link are not downloaded for later offline viewing.
