Design Symbolises Longevity and Immortality
Cheeky Monkeys The latest Australian Lunar Series II pure gold and silver coloured coins feature the ninth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac, the monkey. Each of the 12 years in the Chinese Lunar Calendar is represented by an animal associated with the five elemental signs. The zodiac traditionally starts with the Year of the Rat and cycles continuously. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar monkey include 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, and 2016. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be sociable, curious, confident and romantic. These Australian legal tender coins are presented in a coloured illustrated shipper, with gold coins accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.

A Chinese Blessing
Season’s Greetings!
In Chinese culture, when five bats are depicted together, it is said to be a visual representation of the Five Blessings which include longevity, wealth, health and composure, virtue, and the desire to die a natural death in old age.
The modern day Christmas tree is said to have originated in the 16th century in Germany. Devout Christians brought Christmas trees into their home, adorning them with traditional decorations that were mostly edible including apples, nuts, and biscuits.
A popular design often seen on Chinese charms is that of five bats surrounding the character for fú, meaning prosperity, together with a border of peach motifs, symbolising longevity and immortality, and peonies, representing royalty, virtue, wealth and honour.
It wasn’t until much later, in the 19th century, that the Christmas tree and the custom of decorating it as we now know it became popular outside of Germany. Today, there are a wide assortment of tree ornaments that include tinsel, garland, electric lights, glass baubles, and candy canes. An angel or a star is often placed on the top of the tree symbolising the archangel Gabriel or the Star of Bethlehem.
Silver bullion finish.

The koala is one of Australia’s most symbolic marsupials. This ash coloured creature measures less than two centimetres in length at birth and is both blind and furless when first born. Once it has left the pouch, the baby koala rides on its mother’s back or clings to her belly, accompanying her everywhere until it is roughly 12 months old.
Sometimes known as the Eaglehawk, the Wedge-tailed Eagle can be found over forest and open country throughout mainland Australia and Tasmania.
The koala is one of only three Australian mammals which can survive on a diet of eucalypt leaves.

Sixth Coin in the Series!
The Southern Cassowary
The Deadly Redback
The Southern Cassowary is a large flightless black bird found in far north-east Queensland, New Guinea and surrounding islands. This magnificent creature has striking features including a bright red and blue neck, a horn-like ‘casque’ on top of their head and thick and powerful dagger-like claws up to 12cm long. Their skin is also known to change colour with their mood.
The Redback Spider is a species of highly venomous spider indigenous to Australia. Characterised by a distinctive red stripe on the upper side of the abdomen, the adult Redback has a spherical black body. Females are bigger than the males at approximately 10 millimetres in length compared to three to four millimetres.
The species has had many threats with road building and feral animals offering the most damage. Classed as endangered, the dwindling species are vital for seed dispersal in the rainforest with many other species and ecosystems relying on them for their own existence, especially for scattering the seeds of large-fruits.
Threatened species captured in vibrant colour.
$97.00
Seventh release in iconic series.
Endangered and Extinct – Southern Cassowary 2015 1oz Silver Proof Coin
Redback Spiders generally inhabit warm, sheltered locations, commonly near, or inside, human residences, thriving in the hottest states of Australia. The Redback is considered seriously harmful to humans, and it is responsible for the majority of spider bites in Australia. They are mainly a nocturnal species, remaining undetected during the day, and spinning their webs at night.
