Are you in Pole Position or at the back of the grid? Are you at the back of the grid? Are you stuck behind everyone else, reacting to what they all do or are you driving forward your own financial decisions? Perhaps that’s enough of the cliché’s but I guess you get the point I’m trying to make. The Banks and Building Societies may have looked after us in the past and in some cases this may have been to our benefit financially. Times are now a little more uncertain than they have been for some time and what does ‘Brexit means Brexit’ actually mean? We as consumers, customers or clients are far more financially aware than we have ever been and have a greater deal of choice to do what we want with our savings and investments. Should you do your own thing, trust the Banks and Building Societies, trust a Financial Adviser or try a combination of all three? The truth is, its your money and its your choice to do what you want. All I would ask is, please make an informed choice. The question to consider is do you have enough information, knowledge, experience and time to do it all yourself? Most of us regularly go to the dentist, the doctors and the hairdresser even if its only every six months. Would you however remove one of your own teeth, perform a minor medical procedure on yourself or cut your own hair? Perhaps the last one, but even that’s unlikely for most of us. If you then decide to get professional advice your choice in simple terms is trust the Bank or trust a Financial Adviser. Scary possibly, should it be so, I would say no. We as Financial Advisers are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are all qualified with a Diploma in Financial Advice and some of us are Chartered Financial Advisers. Our advice is covered by a variety of Government schemes and insurances, as well as our own professional indemnity insurance, which protects you as our client. If you’ve never spoken to a Financial Adviser before about your savings and investments then ask yourself why not? Ask for a FREE consultation at their Offices or your home and see if they can help you. Whether it be savings, investments, pensions, equity release or life assurance ask yourself this simple question - Are you in Pole Position or are you at the back of the grid? A Word From Gavin Williamson............... One of the unspoken privileges of attending events as a Member of Parliament, especially in South Staffordshire, though not always that good for my waistline, is that I get to sample the best homemade baked goods. So when the opportunity arises it’s always nice to be able to give something back to our community whilst still enjoying the best that our bakers have to offer. Last month I had the chance to attend three of a number of Macmillan’s Coffee Mornings that were being held throughout South Staffordshire. From carrot cake to crispy cakes, residents across Codsall took inspiration from the Great British Bake Off and sold their wonderful homemade creations in aid of this very important charity. One of the coffee mornings that I had the pleasure of attending was held at the Nationwide Bank in Codsall. There was a wonderful array of homemade cakes on sale and I was so delighted to see local residents come out in force to support the event, who were so enthusiastic about doing something to raise money for such a good cause. The ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Mornings’ have become such an iconic charity event raising money for an excellent cause, supporting patients and families suffering the devastating effects of cancer. Macmillan is such a fantastic charity and the support they provide to people is invaluable. I cannot imagine the struggle that families have to go through when they are faced with the worst of times, fighting such a dreadful disease such as cancer. I am glad that there are so many across the Codsall and South Staffordshire who are able to support Macmillan and I would like to thank all those involved for hosting their own coffee mornings. I am always so proud to see South Staffordshire, particularly younger residents in Codsall, playing their part to help people that are much less fortunate than themselves and to support people going through life changing circumstances. All money raised will go a long way to supporting patients and their families living with the effects of this terrible disease. It was great to hear that so many Coffee Mornings were held across the constituency, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t visit more, although for my waistline’s sake, perhaps it was for the best.

PGA Golf Tips from Jeremy Nicholls at South Staffs Golf Club Academy..... Pitch Shots Around the Green Thinning or hitting your pitch shots fat (divot before the ball) comes from swinging up at impact (scooping). With the set up have the ball positioned in the centre of your stance, with your feet slightly open to your intended target, then lean the body and angle of the shaft slightly to the left (60/40). In the backswing feel both your wrists hinge, this will help you to create a descending blow in the down swing, allowing the loft of the club to work the ball in the air for you. During the downswing try to keep your right hand as passive as possible feeling your left hand is always leading the club head without any deceleration into the ball. Hopefully this will improve your consistency in your pitch shots around the green
