Great museums are in capital cities and Lima is one of them. Lima is home to two of the most important museums in this part of the Americas. They house incomparable artifacts and collections of preColombian art from Peru and the New World. LARCO MUSEUM. Housed in a unique colonial residence dating back to the XVII century, built on top of a VIII century pyramid, this fabulous museum includes the exquisite Collection of Peruvian Gold and Silver from the olden days, and the Pre-Hispanic Erotic Art Salon. Its pieces have toured major world museums. Larco is among only a few museums around the world opening their vaults to the public, with over 45,000 archaeological pieces that have been classified by renowned specialists and scholars. The Larco Museum exhibits the largest private collection of pre-Colombian Peruvian art in the world. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY. (2) The old Colonial mansion housing this museum was an old residence of Peru’s viceroys and then of its Liberators. This is Peru’s grandest museum and houses the Estela Raymondi and the Tello Obelisk monuments, two important carved stone pieces dating back to the Formative period 1000 years B.C. It features the largest textile collection, with fabrics from the Pre-Ceramic period through the Inca Empire, and a major collection of Ancient Peruvian metals. The remarkable Tawantinsuyo Room illustrates one hundred years of the Inca Empire through virtual models and re-creations. Lima was part of the Inca Empire until was founded by the spaniard Francisco Pizarro on the 18th. of January, 1535. During our guided tour we will travel along its millenary history. ANCESTRAL LIMA.At the Huaca Pucllana, an archaeological precint build in the IV century A.C., we will have a panoramic view of this magnificent ceremonial and administrative centre which was considered by the Incas a holy village. We will learn about the life and rituals of its ancient inhabitants and admire its typical piramidal building, very characteristic of sacred pre-hispanic edifications which were adored in the coast of Perú. COLONIAL LIMA. The peruvian Viceroyalty was the most important one in the Spanish Empire and Lima was its capital. The highlights of its historical centre are its architecture and the urban design of the city, found in thold streets filled with colonial houses adorned with moorish-style balconies. Our trip includes the Paseo de la Republica (Promenade of the Republic), Plaza San Martin(San Martin Square) and the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), with their different buildings: Palacio de Gobierno(Government Palace), Palacio Arzobispal the (Archibishop’s Palace), the Basilica Catedral (Cathedral Basilica) and the Palacio Municipal (Municipal Palace). In its historic centre we shall visit one of its most beaautiful buildings, the Museum of the Banco Central de Reserva, where we can admire Perú’s treasures: a fine selection of objects made in gold, ceramics and textiles of its different pre-columbian cultures, ranging since their origins to Inca times (1).We will enter the monumental Convento de San Francisco (Convent of Saint Francis), which displays the biggest collection of religious art in America. We can admire the Choir Room and the Monks’ Library, the Sacristy, with its collection of Zurbaran and Rivera paintings. The Big Patio of the Main Cloister, decorated with sevillan tyles from the XVI century, its beautiful moorish arches and its subterranean



crypts known as The Catacombs, where you will feel the presence of Lima’s colonial past.

CONTEMPORARY LIMA Visit to the most traditional residential areas in the capital: The Olive Grove of San Isidro, Miraflores and Larco Mar, distinctive tourist centre of contemporary Lima. Tours Trujillo City Tours (3 Hrs) Visita a los monumentos coloniales, civiles y religiosos. Continua la visita al PALACIO ITURREGUI que presenta dos plantas, cuya influencia neoclásica muestra amplios patios y galerías, Casa de la emancipación, su arquitectura de estilo neoclásico, cuenta con pinturas murales de estilo rococó, Iglesia la Merced, Casa del Mariscal de Orbegoso, Plaza Mayor y el monumento de la Libertad Casa Calonge Urquiaga de estilo neoclásico adornada de muebles y objetos antiguos, continua a la Plazuela Santo Domingo, Finaliza la visita apreciando la Casa del Mayorazgo de Facalá, mansión de notable tradición hhistórica que cobijo la confección de la primera Bandera Nacional usada en Trujillo en la primera proclamación de la independencia del yugo español el 29 de Diciembre de 1820. Circuito Chan Chan (3 Hrs) Se iniciara la visita en el Templo del Arco Iris ó Huaca El Dragón de la Cultura Chimú (S. XI al XV d.c) cuya forma cuadrangular, esta rodeada por una muralla trapezoidal de 6 metros de alto. Recorrido por el Museo de Sitio de Chan Chan, donde se exhiben modelos y maquetas del estilo arquitectónico Moche y Chimú, así como una presentación de luz y sonido. Luego visitaremos el imponente Complejo Arqueológico de CHAN CHAN, cuya extensión es de aproximadamente 18 Kms2. El Palacio TSCHUDI, ubicado en la parte sur oeste de Chan Chan, es uno de los nueve mejor conservados; sus paredes están decoradas con friso s estilizados en alto relieve con figuras zoomorfas y geométricas. Recorreremos sus plazas ceremoniales, adoratorios, reservorios graneros, la Sala del Consejo de Ancianos, sus cementerios, etc. Visita a HUANCHACO ancestral Caleta de pescadores donde apreciamos las antiguas embarcaciones Archeological Museum After the city tour you will visit this museum whic is one of the most representative of the moche culture, ther you will find a wild range of ceramics, metal handmade jewelery and remains of this important culture.

Arequipa COLCA VALLEY Package 2 days / 1 night First Day:

Departure from Hotel: 08:30 hrs. From Arequipa City, pick-up place specified by the passenger and we will see this:  Pampas Cañahuas (Vicuna, Llama, Alpaca Reserve)  The Bofedales  Chucura  Patapampa 4,820 masl, the higher point, also called “Los Andes Lookout”. At this place you will observe the beautiful Valley’s volcanoes as well as the Mismi Volcano and near towns  Chivay town Lookout



 Arrival to Hostel in Chivay Valley  In the afternoon, optional visit to “La Calera” thermal springs (ticket not included – S/10.00 per person, paid  directly at entrance)  Overnight in hostel.

Second Day:

Departure from the Hotel: 06:00 hrs.  Departure to Colca Canyon, going by Maca, Yanque, Pinchollo and Achoma typical towns  Antahuilque Lookout, where you will see 3 mysterious lagoons  Choquetico Lookout. At this place, hanging tombs and the stone mock-up of the terraces located on the other side of the Valley will be observed.  The famous “Cruz del Cóndor” Lookout, enjoy the awesome condors flying  Approximately at 13:00 hrs, return to Arequipa City approximate time of arrival to Arequipa City 17:00
